X-rays
What intraoral photography allows us to do for the parts of your smile visible above the gum line, digital x-rays do for your internal dental structures and those tooth layers hidden by soft tissue. Digital x-rays use less radiation than traditional film imaging, they’re faster to capture, and best of all, digital files are easily viewed, transferred, and saved for quick, convenient access year after year. Digital x-rays also expedite the treatment process because they are immediately available for our labs, specialists, or insurance providers as needed. Dental x-rays, in general, have greatly advanced in the last 20 years. A common misconception is that dental x-rays put off too much radiation. All of the x-ray machines in our Boca Raton dental office are up to date with current technology to reduce radiation to the patient and the staff. Any radiation in excess isn’t ideal. At Rowen Dentistry, we ensure that our patients get the least amount of radiation possible, while still capturing what we need with digital x-rays to properly diagnose.
Oral Cancer Screening

Fluoride Treatment
Tooth decay occurs when plaque builds up on the surfaces of teeth without being removed regularly. Over time, the repeated attack on the tooth enamel by sticky-acidic plaque leads to weakened dental structures. Fluoride is a key nutrient in the development of strong, healthy teeth, and is an essential aspect of all daily oral hygiene routines which should include the use of fluoridated tooth pastes and/or mouthwashes. We can also offer fluoride supplements or topical fluoride treatments for those patients in need of an added fluoride boost to fortify their smiles.

Fillings
Resin Composite
The Rowen Dentistry team thinks it’s just as important to restore the appearance of the smile as it is to replace the lost structure. If applicable, we recommend tooth-colored fillings for patients. In addition to providing a seamless, natural looking restoration, the composite resin material used for this procedure can actually strengthen the treated tooth. The process is simple. We begin by removing any damaged or decayed tooth structure. Then, we apply the tooth colored putty-like resin directly to the affected area and shape it into position to restore the lost tooth enamel. We make adjustments as necessary to perfectly replicate the damaged bite. Finally, a curing light hardens the composite into place, leaving patients with flawless smiles. The entire process is completed in a single appointment, and the beautiful results can last for decades with proper care. We can even use versatile composite resin for purely cosmetic enhancements. This cosmetic dentistry treatment is known as dental bonding, and it can be a budget stretching single appointment alternative to porcelain veneers for many patients.
Veneers
Patients who want to completely transform their smiles with just one, simple service may think this isn’t even an option. While it may sound too good to be true, it’s not. We use porcelain veneers to perfect smiles with little to no prep and extremely short treatment times. Because of the way they correct the spacing and positioning of teeth, porcelain veneers are often referred to as “instant orthodontics.” This innovative treatment solution is quick and comfortable. Veneers are thin sheaths of porcelain that affix to the front surfaces of teeth to create a flawless smile, and they take two short visits to create and place. We start by designing the smile you want to see in the mirror. Then, we remove a small amount surface enamel in most cases to allow the veneer to lay flat within the smile line. Finally, we place a temporary, which protects the teeth and allows patients to get used to the look and feel of their veneer. A trusted dental lab will craft the final restoration, and when you return to our office, we’ll exchange your temporary for the final product, leaving you with a gorgeous smile.
Crowns
We offer restorations crafted from a variety of materials. Each offers their own unique benefits, but many of our patients prefer porcelain crowns because they offer the most natural looking solution. These durable restorations can last for decades with proper care, especially for smaller, front teeth that don’t absorb as much pressure while chewing. For back teeth, we may recommend a stronger, less cosmetically appealing material like gold or porcelain fused to gold because these teeth must absorb a higher amount of impact each day.
Bridges
One of the most versatile dental restoration options, the dental crown, is a great solution to protect damaged teeth. A crown fits completely over the top of damaged or decayed teeth preserving the remaining tooth structure and preventing additional issues. The whole tooth is fortified and protected by the dental crown. A bridge, sometimes called a fixed bridge, is a replacement tooth fused to dental crowns. Orthodontics
The field of orthodontics, the branch of dentistry dealing with correcting facial, jaw, and bite issues, started out considered a purely cosmetic field. Today, it’s a whole different ball game. When patients have straighter teeth, they’re less likely to experience tooth decay (cavities), chips and breaks caused by uneven wear, and painful TMJ dysfunction. In addition to all of these great oral health advantages, patients also end up with a smile that looks picture-perfect.
Invisalign Orthodontics
Clear trays are a great alternative to traditional braces. It is a subtle clear tray that you wear 24 hours a day except when eating. A commonly known clear tray company is Invisalign. Using a set number of clear trays, the trays gently shift teeth into better positioning. Tooth colored removable “buttons” may or may not be adhered to a tooth to assist the tray in proper positioning the teeth. Typically interproximal (in between) light filing is done by our Boca Raton dentist to help create space between teeth to ensure precision spacing and to avoid crowding. Treatments can be as short as 6 weeks depending on the nature of the anticipated movement. Typically, just like Invisalign, the patient is required to come back to the office every 2-3 weeks for the delivery of their new trays and to make any adjustments. A final retainer may be required to help maintain the overall progression of movement.
Braces

Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is popular cosmetic treatment, but for patients who have deep set staining and discoloration, at-home teeth whitening solutions may not be effective. Instead, our team offers two in-practice professional teeth whitening solutions. Zoom! is a more traditional, one-day whitening option. We apply a professional grade whitening gel to the front facing surfaces of teeth. Then, a light is used to accelerate the whitening process. Some patients see an improvement up to seven to ten shades within an hour. For those with more advanced whitening needs, we also use the KoR deep bleaching system. KoR combines an at-home preparatory whitening treatment with an advanced in-office deep bleaching. This combination allows us to improve the appearance of yellowed and discolored teeth, and in some cases, we can even improve teeth that have tetracycline staining or fluorosis, which isn’t possible with traditional teeth whitening options.
