Worst Experience I have ever had at an "upscale" salon. I am sure that the owner and her daughter are great hairdressers, but the person who cut my hair did a horrible job. I literally could have gotten a better cut at Walmart. I didn't even feel comfortable going back to the salon to get it fixed. I will stick to more reliable Bham salons.

First of all every story has two sides. We pride ourselves in thorough consultations, which did happen once this client arrived and received with her hair stylist Dona(owner). Joelle Salon is the second Salon for Dona, she has been doing business for 25 years and we have never had a complaint. We always ensure our clients are happy and confident before they leave the doors of the salon. Because our clients deserve the best they will always receive the best! This client client was ecstatic once her hair was complete. Dona always steps back to ask the client to review the hair color/style from all angles. The client expressed how much she liked it and did mention is was blond, which she did request. At that moment she could have mentioned her dissatisfaction so action could have been done to correct her unhappiness. The client was quoted on our pricing over the phone, which was told prices do vary depending on the length and texture of the hair. It is specified on our website and also in house Menu of Services that our prices are such amount and up. This clients total charge for our records was for $300 for all over color, full foil, and cut/style. The client was not charged for the deep conditioner due to damage/condition of the her hair prior to her services, so the deep conditioner was complimentary. Our reputation of being high end is based on professionalism, up most talent and skill, and receiving the best overall experience. We are obviously disappointed with this reaction, but we again pride ourselves on each clients satisfaction!!!

I have to say, the bad review ...

I have to say, the bad review has to be a joke. I have been going everywhere you can think of for my blonde, damaged hair. I have paid over $500 every time because everyone knows blonde hair is EXPENSIVE to keep up. If you are not paying much for blonde hair you either have cheap looking blonde or you look a mess. I heard about Joelle salon in B-metro, and kept seeing them in other magazines including About Town. So I decided to give them a try. Upon arrival I was met with such a warm feeling and instantly felt comfortable in this elegant little salon. Every single stylist introduced themselves and it felt like they all were genuinely interested in how to make my hair fabulous. I wanted a lot more blonde but I needed help with the condition it was in. There was a long consultation and I was instantly at ease. I HAVE NEVER looked better!!!! It was the perfect blonde and they knew exactly what to do to bring my hair back to life. I left with my hair shining, softer, and healthier than ever. As for the bad review, I have to 100 percent disagree, if you have breakage then it's probably because you don't invest in taking care of your hair. Don't blame professionals who do a fantastic, thorough job for your negligence.

I'm never the type to actually take the time to write bad reviews but I feel like in this instance I have to. I called before my salon appointment and asked how much it would be for a full foil, style and cut. The receptionist quoted me at $125 which I found to be pretty reasonable considering that's what I usually pay in my hometown. I had just moved to Birmingham and my boyfriend had suggested I go to the salon because the owner was a family friend.I told her I wanted solid blonde highlights and then she started applying color directly on my scalp line. I thought this was weird but didn't want to say anything because I thought she might be using a new technique. She also put in foils. She then told me we were going to deep condition my hair and I just assumed this was part of the process and she never asked me if I wanted to pay extra for it.In the end...my hair was PLATINUM blonde and she tried to charge me $425. I told her I thought it was too blonde but she told me to wait a couple days and see if I liked it. I admit I should have been more clear at the time I was unhappy with my hair but as she was a family friend I didn't want to cause too much trouble. When I heard the price I was outraged she did all these extra things to my hair without asking me if I was willing to pay first.I immediately drove home the next day and got my hometown hairstylist to fix it. My hair has BREAKAGE all over from where she over processed my hair. Don't let my mistake happen to you.
