Today was our first visit to Canine Couture. It will not be our last! Kristen, the new owner, did a fabulous job. The price was significantly less than I was paying previously and it only took an hour. I would give them 6 stars if I could! This was the first time I have ever gone to pick my Abby up from a groomer and not had her scratching at the door trying to get out. Thank you, Kristen for making us feel so welcome.

I should have followed my first mind. I could tell when I walked in they were not dog lovers. Strictly business. Long story short I took in my sisters maltipoo. When he was done they left my sister a voicemail saying he's done and as an afterthought "I knicked him but he's not bleeding anymore". She gets there and they won't even let her see him until she pays. They say they knicked him because he was so matted. His hair matts but he's never been cut. My sister gets him to the car and part of his ear is gone. They NEVER apologized. Worse groomers ever. Awful people who can't possibly be dog lovers.

What a joke

It's sad Lynne's husband had to make a fake review in order to make her look good!!

Love this place! The new management is wonderful! They let you see the back area where they groom now instead of being all closed off. That makes me way more comfortable about leaving my dog Buddy than when Julie (previous owner) kept you from seeing anything, and Buddy is done in about two hours! Also love the new look of the place.

With regards to Rene Hawarny’s inaccurate account of Tucker, a beautiful Bedlington Terrier on 10/11/13, There are several issues with her review.

1)The AKC Breed Standard “puppy cut” is a contradiction in itself as a “puppy cut” in the grooming industry is defined as one length all over (no breed standard). Whereas, an AKC Breed Standard refers to a very specific pattern for that particular breed.

2) We did the Bedlington Terrier AKC Breed Standard Pattern as requested which is an extremely difficult pattern that requires a highly skilled, trained, and experienced professional with excellent hand scissoring capability. The Bedlington Terrier has a soft dense undercoat and a cotton like outer coat (unique to the Bedlington and harder to hand scissor). All Tucker’s previous grooms were not AKC Standard. She had one length all over the body and legs but did have a Bedlington head and tail.

3) With regards to the timing of Tucker’s stay with us, there were three issues contributing to the length of time. One is the length of time it takes to do a correct Bedlington Terrier AKC Breed Standard Cut. Secondly, at Canine Couture, we believe in “Humanity before Vanity” so when Tucker did not like the high velocity dryer which many pups do not (due to the sound and pressure), we opted to use a gentle fan dryer which does take longer to dry. Then after he was 90% dry, we used a stand dryer to fluff dry his coat to get the best end results. Many of the salons today do not take the time to use stand dryers.

There is a point when a business owner has to make a choice. Unfortunately, I knew we could never make Rene happy which is what I told her. I was advised by previous management that she complained frequently. More importantly, was how she treated us that day. When Rene came in she accused us in front of customers that we did not know what a Bedlington Cut was and that Tucker looked like a poodle . The Bedlington head is narrow without a stop from the nose to the crest in a curve. A poodle has a beveled topknot. We brought out “Notes from the Grooming Table” which is the best and most used book for the AKC Breed Standard Patterns in the grooming business. We also pulled up pictures of the Bedlington Terrier on our cell phones. Rene would not even look at them. She continued to cause a scene by loudly threatening us that she is very well connected in the Bedlington Terrier World and would let everyone know how horrible we are. She took pictures of our sign before she left.

Julie is no longer with Canine Couture and the new owner will NOT listen to you. I have a Bedlington Terrier and she did not follow the breed standard "puppy cut" as requested. She groomed him to look like a poodle. I was not told that Julie was no longer with the shop when I scheduled my appointment, nor when I dropped off my dog for his appointment. It took 4, yes 4 hours, to finally get the call that he was ready for pick up. I expressed my disappointment and the groomer tried to touch up the cut. No big deal. When I called for his next groom appointment, I was told that I am no longer welcome there.

I was willing to give the shop another shot and dialogue with them about what I would like….of course paying for the request. No chance of that.

I suppose if you have a dog that just needs a bath, nails, and ears cleaned….this shop would be fine. If you have a dog with a unusual style….you are out of luck at Canine Couture.

Very unhappy if they don't know the difference between a short cut and a shave, they should not be in business. Way too many complaints about this subject matter at this place! They may appear nice but its animal cruelty when they shave down your pet and can't admit any remorse.

I have used Canine Couture for...

I have used Canine Couture for over three years and have been very pleased with their professional, safe and caring services. I have a Standard Pootle and Bichon, and the quality of grooming is the best I have found in 25 years. I show my dogs and have never questioned their grooming. I cant say enough for their personal care and professional grooming and possibly this may be do to their personal attention as a small salon. The salon has a clean smell and sanitary look.
