Tonometry is a test to detect glaucoma by measuring the pressure inside your eye or IOP (intraocular pressure). Glaucoma can cause vision loss and even blindness if the IOP in the eye is too high and damages the optic nerve.
Ophthalmology
An ophthalmologist (MD) is a medical or osteopathic doctor who specializes in the eye. They perform eye exams, diagnose and treat disease, prescribe medication, and perform surgery. Ophthalmologists complete four years of medical school, one year of internship, and a minimum of three years of residency in ophthalmology.
Macular Degeneration
QuantifEye â€‹ MPS II measurement instrument is the most reliable and accurate device for measuring Macular Pigment Optical Density (MPOD). MPOD measurement allows EyeCare Professionals to assess a key Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) risk factor, low macular pigment, as well as other visual performance challenges. AMD is the leading cause of age-related blindness.
Laser Eye Surgery
Dr. Solomon has been engaged in full time active practice for 30 years with special interest and emphasis in specialty contact lens fitting, refractive surgical co-management of LASIK, PRK and CK and primary medical eye care.Â Among his accomplishments of the past 30 years, Dr. Solomon has acted as a clinical investigator for three of the major contact lens manufacturers.Â
Cataracts
Depending upon the nature of the visit, medical insurance or vision insurance may be applicable. If your visit is for routine vision with the prescribing of spectacles or contact lenses this would be submitted through your vision plan. If you are being monitored or treated for a medically related eye condition (i.e. – dry eyes, allergy eyes, infections, monitoring of cataracts or retinal disease, etc.), then your medical plan would be billed.

I received exceptional medical service. Dr Solomon is outstanding and professionally advised me on my unique vision issue during the eye examination. His staff is also exceptional. They are thorough and very friendly. They also take Covid precautions. Highly recommend practice. Iâ€™ve been coming to his practice for years and the doctor and staff are consistently outstanding.
