We can make this statement because we are both former civil defense lawyers who worked for prestigious law firms in Birmingham, Alabama. Like most lawyers in those firms, we have the legal “pedigrees.” Brian graduated second in his law school class and went on to clerk for a United States judge, a highly coveted opportunity in the legal community. One of Birmingham’s oldest and most reputable law firms offered Brian a position defending a large corporate client in multi-million dollar personal injury lawsuits. Josh also excelled academically. He was recognized numerous times in law school for his trial and appellate advocacy skills. One of the South’s leading litigation firms asked Josh to join its ranks. After learning a great deal, we decided to leave the big firms and join forces. We took with us a knowledge of how civil defense lawyers operate and the skills necessary to compete with the best and brightest. We practice law with a spirit of service. At this firm, our clients have more than an attorney. They have a dedicated partner, available day and night. We make every effort to accommodate our clients’ schedules, speaking and meeting with them when and where they need us. In fact, it is our mission to always be available. Still, true service requires more. We believe that it is our duty as lawyers to help those who most need it. For that reason, we regularly perform legal services for free through the Birmingham Volunteer Lawyers Program. We welcome non-profit organizations to contact us regarding potential pro bono opportunities. Helping Real People With Real Problems. We practice “Real People” law. Our clients are honest, hardworking people who need a lawyer but often times have little experience with the legal system. We chose to devote ourselves to this area of the law for a reason. Like many of our clients, we come from modest backgrounds and understand what it means to struggle. Helping those in similar situations is, for us, the fulfillment of a calling. Many of our clients are potential plaintiffs who need help making something right. We do our best to resolve the situation without going to court. When it’s in our client’s best interest, we file a lawsuit. Some of our clients have been charged with a crime. We negotiate on their behalf and take the case to trial when necessary. We also counsel and represent select business clients.
