Teeth Cleaning
Given the potential life threatening effects of gum disease, it is very important to maintain regular dental exams and cleanings. Your dental professional will provide periodic screenings for gum disease. Payment for scaling & root planning and periodontal surgery â€“ If you wish to start treatment before the pre-estimate is returned, we will have you pay 30% at the time of treatment. We will bill your insurance for the entire amount. Any overpayment to our office will be reimbursed to you. If your insurance pays less than the 70% our office estimated, we will bill you for the balance at the completion of treatment.

The rate of deterioration varies per person, however, it begins almost immediately after a tooth is lost or removed and continues throughout life. Once deterioration reaches a certain point, dental prosthetics, such as dentures, may no longer be useful if there is not enough bone to support them. Oral Surgery
PiezosurgeryÂ® is among the newer techniques used to cut bone tissue without damaging soft tissue. The procedure involves using ultrasonic micro-vibrations to cut away the amount of bone tissue necessary for creating the best possible implant placement site. The procedure was developed for use in oral surgery, implantology, and periodontics. The innovative technology used in this procedure now allows dental professionals to perform a number of procedures with less trauma to surrounding structures.
Gum Surgery

Osseous Surgery
If you have been diagnosed with periodontal disease in Westmont, IL and surrounding areas and Dr. Timothy Walsh has recommended surgery, you need to know the difference between traditional gum surgery and laser surgery. Traditional gum surgery, or osseous surgery, typically involves using a scalpel to pull back the gum tissue and clean out the spaces between the teeth and gums to reduce pocket depths. In some cases, bone grafting or membrane materials are needed to help the gum tissue reattach to the surfaces of the teeth. Tooth Extractions
There are two forms of tooth extraction: Surgical and Simple. The type you need will depend on if the tooth has erupted out of the gum tissue or if it is still below the gumline. Ridge Augmentation
BMP-2 material can be used to prevent bone loss in the jaw after an extraction, to regenerate bone for dental implants, or for sinus and ridge augmentation. Clinical results have shown it to be superior to standard methods and is a safe, reliable bone grafting material.
Bone Grafting
Recently the FDA approved the use of Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2 (BMP-2) in bone grafting procedures. BMP-2 is a genetically made protein that has the ability to grow bone from the patientâ€™s own cells for bone grafting. BMP-2 is naturally found in the human body in small quantities. However, in order to provide clinically useful amounts, BMP-2 is manufactured in a special facility. During bone grafting procedures, BMP-2 is used to naturally stimulate the production of new bone.

Orthodontics
The range of benefits depends solely on what the plan purchaser wishes to offer employees or members. Some plans may cover as little as 30% or as much as 100% of dental services, with most falling in the 50% to 80% range. Some plans exclude certain types of services, e.g. orthodontics, while other plans will cover a full range of dental services.
