Located in Bellport, N.Y., the Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area is a nonprofit organization that serves youths between the ages of 5 and 20. It offers SMART Girls, SMART Moves, Act SMART and Street SMART programs. The organization additionally provides CareerLaunch, which is a mentoring program that includes completing Internet-based surveys, identifying training and college requirements, and obtaining financial aid for teenagers between the ages of 13 and 18. It also offers Money Matters, Make It Count and Passport to Manhood programs. The organization s Power Hour program includes homework assistance and tutoring services. It also organizes field trips to state parks, museums and entertainment facilities. The Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area is a part of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, which is a national network of more than 4,000 neighborhood-based facilities. Founded in 1906 and headquartered in Atlanta, it offers guidance-oriented character development programs for children.
