I found Evangeline Jacobson's practice while searching the internet for alternative treatment options for Bell's Palsy on the left side of my face back in March of 2010. When I first realized that something was wrong, I went to see my primary care physician. He immediately told me that it was Bell's Palsy, prescribed a steroid for me and gave me some facial exercises to do. After the seven-day steroid series was completed I saw no improvement in my face whatsoever. As a matter of fact, I saw myself getting worse. That is when I decided to seek alternate treatment. Mrs. Jacobson was very genuine in her approach to my ailment. She told me that she had treated Bell's Palsy in the past and that she was sure that she could help me overcome it, although she did specify that it would take some time. She began to treat me by flushing out the heat from my face through my feet, which I found strange since my issue was in my face, but I went with it. And I am so glad that I stuck with it. Within ten days of my first acupuncture session, I began to see improvement. By the end of the third week, I was completely cured. I was ecstatic with the therapy and obviously with the result. Approximately a month after being cured of my left side Bell's Palsy, I woke up one morning with a familiar "numb" feeling on the right side of my face. I again went to see my primary care physician who then prescribed the same steroid treatment but this time wanted me to see a neurologist because he said that it was rare that I would get this twice in such close succession. By that afternoon, the numbness had already developed into a droopy look to the right side of my face. I immediately called Evangeline's office to schedule an appointment. I began my acupuncture treatments with her the following day, and since I did not wait for the to start acupuncture like I did the first time, I was completely cured again within the first three weeks, rather than three weeks after my seven day steroid treatment. Evangeline is a fantastic acupuncturist, and her approach is calming, soothing, and stress-free. Therefore, patients usually require fewer visits. Also, for some conditions, we can, with this equipment, treat acupoints that would typically be avoided. For example, for Multiple Sclerosis the patient may need treatment in the plantar of the foot, in which case conventional acupuncture would be too painful in this area of the body while avoiding it would compromise the effectiveness of the treatment.

The recovery was not overnight, and now after several months of going to acupuncture and taking herbal formulas, while I am still in recovery, I look back and wonder how I was ever able to even make it to work on a daily basis. I once told Eva during a treatment that she was my savior. She laughed, and I am not sure if she is aware of the important role she played, not just in my physical health, but my mental health as well. In the three months leading up to the time that I met Eva, I had become somewhat discouraged and although I am an extremely positive person, I knew that this illness had taken over my life and had the capability of making me become clinically depressed. In clinical observation, the ultrasound shows that, after acupuncture, the color of women’s ovaries change from cloudy to bright and clear. For almost six months, I suffered from muscle spasms, tenderness, and pain which involved the lower part of my body from the sacral area down to below the knee. The problem started as sciatica; the acute sciatica pain subsided, but left me with persistent muscular discomfort. I first visited a chiropractor and this treatment helped with the acute sciatica, but did nothing to relieve the underlying muscular problem. Subsequent to this, I was treated by an MD who specializes in the management of chronic pain. He gave me trigger point injections with Lidocaine/Decadron, and he also prescribed physical therapy (heat, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, massage, and exercise). These modalities resulted in some improvement, but I still was not where I felt I needed to be. Then, even though I was somewhat skeptical of the benefits, I tried acupuncture by Evangelina Jacobson. Within a short while I experienced a marked improvement in discomfort, to the point where I am without discomfort most of the time and able to do so much more than I have been able to for months! Mrs. Jacobson is professional and thorough in her approach, and I feel that my recent improvement can be attributed to her treatment of my problem with acupuncture as well as with heat d, electro-acupuncture. I came to you four months ago, vainly because I was unhappy with my aging skin. I did not want Botox. As a fitness professional, I pride myself on being healthy and fit.
