Founded in 1886, the American Philatelic Society, also known as APS, is one of the largest, nonprofit societies in the world for stamp collectors. It has a membership of more than 44,000 individuals. The society offers a range of services and educational opportunities to broaden member s personal collection. The American Philatelic Society assists members to acquire and dispose various philatelic materials. In addition, the society operates a library that provides a collection of books, reference sets and resource materials. It additionally maintains an online stamp store that includes a range of stamps, covers and other philatelic materials. The American Philatelic Society maintains a presence in Bellefonte, Pa.
