Overall

Laxton's Auto Repair got me good. I broke down on my way to VA for Thanksgiving because a faulty injector. I was told that the best way to go was to replace all 8, and that Ford won't even replace just 1. I found out today from Ford that was a lie. So after getting all 8 replaced I called to check on the status of my truck and was told that I needed a fuel and oil filter and an oil change. So after $5,250.00 worth of repairs my family made it back to MI and 5 days from the day I picked it up it went down again. Took it to my mechanic here in MI and while he was diagnosing it found that the FICM was not mounted down correctly. After getting new batteries and it still not being fixed found that it may be the Glow plugs. When getting into that job my mechanic found that not only was the FICM's mounting bolts broken but the grounding wires were not grounded at all. In speaking to Laxton's, he stated that the vehicle came in that way which he didn't inform me of and it was never annotated on my service report. So he will tell me that I need 8 injectors, an oil filter and oil change and new fuel filter but won't inform me that the FICM had broken bolts and not grounded which if you read any Diesel forums says that after any service is done that the FICM has to be re-installed correctly or it can short out because internal damage. Tried to have Laxton's remedy the situation by sending me a new FICM and I will pay to get it programed and get it installed and he said it's my problem because I bought a lemon and he wouldn't send one. As of now because I found out from Ford that he lied about replacing injectors and didn't inform me or annotate it, I wonder if his mechanic broke the mounting bolts on my FICM, and didn't ground it correctly. Needless to say finding out all of this made me think back to the one small nut I found under my hood and the dirty rag I found it in. Thanks Laxton's for being a stand up shop that you can't count on for quality repairs and obviously doesn't back up the work they do when they cause further damage by half assing the job.

As a response to Laxton's response. It was very good of you to help with the tow that my Insurance USAA did cover so saying the tow was no expense was incorrect. I even made sure that USAA covered you before the tow truck got there so lying to YP so others reading this think you did it out of the kindness of your heart is wrong. The fact that you responded to cover my review again makes me feel you are trying to cover up the truth that you didn't put my truck back together properly and did not inform me that a major component (My FICM) needed mounted. I sent you a Christmas card thanking you for the work and towing but included the paperwork showing you that the FICM MUST BE MOUNTED CORRECTLY WHEN IT HAS BEEN REMOVED FOR OTHER WORK. The fact that you had to remove it and reinstall it to get to the injectors and incorrectly mounted or not you FAILED to inform me makes YOU responsible. The paperwork states that improper mounting of the FICM can cause internal damage and FICM failure. So the fact that my truck is in the shop now for a FICM failure is not to blame on me for buying a lemon, not the prior owner or mechanic that worked on it but YOU for not mounting or even trying to mount it, or informing me that it needed mounting and giving me the option to have the work done. If I deny the work then it's my fault but you letting the mechanic just toss it back in as is makes it your fault. Nice try on covering your butt by replying to my review. Last but not least, you told me to contact you with issues..... Just so people reading this know, I did contact you on multiple occasions along with my mechanic here trying to contact you to speak to you about the issue. When I called you just put the blame on everyone but you. Also when my mechanic called he was told the you were "Out of the office" 10 min after you told me to have him call you. Nice!

Mr. Dickman I understand that you feel as though we did not live up to your expectations, and for that I apologize. My company strives to provide the best possible service to everyone we meet. In your circumstances you were broke down and I passed by to offer assistance. I had your vehicle towed to my shop, at no expense to you and your family, I quickly diagnosed your truck within an hour of having it picked up. I gave you and your family transportation to a rental car, at no expense, and QUOTED the repair of your truck, telling you that the #7 injector had failed. I quoted both the parts and labor to change just the #7 injector and the price to change all 8. This certain repair I know is expensive and that is why I left the decision to you, and you decided to complete all 8, this is the decision I would have made had it been my vehicle. The issue regarding the FICM, we unfortunately did not notify you that it was damaged, but your truck particularly had several issues from someone working on it prior to us completing the repairs and we did not want to seem as though we were just attempting to take advantage of you. The point I am attempting to make is that we cannot be responsible for issues regarding your vehicle that we had no involvement in damaging. If there is ever a issue regarding the repairs that we made to your vehicles fuel injectors only, my company will honor the agreed upon warranty with no questions asked. As for the rag that my mechanic left I apologize it was a honest mistake as well. Anyway I can assist you further in the future feel free to contact me directly and I will work with you to resolve any issues, Thank You Sincerely Laxton's Auto Repair.
