Aradia Fu, MD, is a neurologist and epileptologist at South Shore University Hospital, where she specializes in the treatment of patients suffering from seizures and epilepsy. She is board-certified in both neurology and epilepsy. Her areas of focus include electroencephalography (EEG), encompassing both scalp and intracranial EEG monitoring; continuous video EEG monitoring in the critically ill; clinical neurophysiology; and medication-resistant epilepsy. She also works collaboratively with neurosurgeons to evaluate and assess patients for epilepsy surgery and localize seizure onset for targeted intervention.Dr. Fu stresses both evidence-based care and whole-person care, providing the most up-to-date diagnostic epilepsy tests, treatments and management for her patients while also taking the time to address their psychological, emotional and social concerns. She emphasizes clear communication, using straightforward, easily understood language to explain neurological conditions and treatments and allowing ample time for questions. She creates a safe environment for patients to express themselves and ensures that they know she or a colleague can be reached at any time of the day or night. Dr. Fu is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.Dr. Fu is committed to the education of the next generation of neurologists and epileptologists, leading bedside rounding in the epilepsy monitoring unit for neurology residents and training epileptology fellows in reading EEGs and managing epilepsy. A member of the American Epilepsy Society, Dr. Fu has published research on the treatment of intractable generalized epilepsy and the management of status epilepticus, seizures that last longer than five minutes or that recur within a few minutes without an intervening period of recovery. She was an invited speaker at the BIT s 7th Annual World Congress of Neurotalk-2016, as well as a symposium chair at the 2018 American Epilepsy Society Annual Meeting.Dr. Fu graduated from the University of California Irvine School of Medicine. She completed her residency in neurology at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. She completed both a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology and a fellowship in epilepsy/EEG at Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Fu came to Northwell Health in 2017.
