Reiki is a holistic, complimentary method of energy healing recognized by the American Holistic Nurses Association. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that in turn promotes healing. Reiki is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the concept that an unseen "life force energy" or "Ki", "chi", flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's life force energy is low, then we are more prone to getting sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.Benefits of treatment include relaxation, stress reduction, pain reduction, increased peacefulness and all-around improved wellness. Response is immediate; it can produce a range of subtle to life changing results. Anyone can benefit from a Reiki treatment, regardless of religion, culture, age, health, or social background.Since energy is around us, and neither created nor destroyed, only transformed, it stands to reason that Reiki energy will flow to all things that hold energy. A client will lay in loose fitting comfortable clothing on a massage table for preferably at least 30 minutes. If unable to lay, Reiki can be performed with a client sitting in a chair. A Reiki practitioner delivers Reiki energy primarily through their hands with light touch on the body or just above the body in the body's energy field.
