I've shopped with the Texas boot company numerous times, and all of which have been exceptionally pleasant. The sales associate I've shopped with in the past (I believe his name is Jared) has always given me top notch service. I've purchased 4 pairs of Anderson Beans from them, and I look forward to purchasing my first pair of lucchesses from them when I travel through Bastrop this summer!

First and foremost the staff are over the top nice. The owner makes you welcome to the store without the feeling of just looking for a sale. They have a great selection of boots from Ariat, Lucchese, Justin, Old Grinngo..etc. The clothes selection is great too from infants to adults. I have shopped at numerous western wear stores in and around Austin and will never go anywhere else again.
*And yes I know how to spell Old Grin** but apparently it's considered a bad word, lol

I have bought numerous pairs of boots at Texas boot company without any issues. The only thing I found strange during the visits/purchases that I made was that the owner was never there and all of the associates were young teenagers - high school age. For Christmas I bought a pair of Lucchese boots as a gift. It was not until the boots were unwrapped at Christmas that I noticed that there were flaps of leather that were not sewn down along the stitching on the top of the boots. I figured that this was a quality issue, so I returned to Texas boot company with the boots. The young kid that was working when I went back to see what could be done said that nothing could be done about the issue. I asked to speak to the manager. He told me the owner was gone but that he would have him call me. Two weeks went by with no call - so I went back. The owner was once again not there. The same young kid said that he could not help me. I asked who the owner left in charge when he was gone - the young kid said he was in charge. I asked if he was in charge why he could not make any decisions and could not help me. The next day the owner of Texas boot company left me a voice mail telling me that he did not appreciate me harassing his employees. I called the owner back and asked what he was going to do about the issue. He told me that he had already shipped the boots to Lucchese and Lucchese said there was no issue with the boots. He told me that this was now my issue. I could not believe that Lucchese would sell a pair of boots with this issue - especially at the high price that you pay for them. So, I shipped the boots to Lucchese myself (Lucchese paid for the shipping). Turns out, the boots were never sent to Lucchese by the Texas Boot Company. The day Lucchese received my boots, they contacted me to let me know that the boots were defective and that they would be sending me a BRAND NEW pair of boots. They also confirmed that the boots were never sent to them by Texas Boot Company. I am extremely thankful that Lucchese stepped up and fixed the issue for me. Not only did they fix the issue - they were extremely communicative throughout the process and quickly responded to my needs. The owner of Texas Boot Company is definitely not good with customer service. After reading the previous post - where the owner called the cops - I can tell he has some issue with confrontation and with fixing issues. Buyer beware - make sure you don't need any help from the Texas Boot Company once you make your purchase - because you definitely will not get any. Its all up to you once you walk out the door.

Not helpful

The sales rep was very condescending, short, and not willingly helpful (as I believe a sales person should be). I picked out a pair of Lucchese boots that were only available in size 8 & 9. 8 was too small, 9 was not quite as snug as my old pair. I asked her how they should feel and she was no help at all. I decided I'd take them since I was driving through and would be visiting Cavenders later (I probably gave in to the pressure of her scrutiny more than anything because I'm a wuss and don't want to bother anyone). My plan was to see of they had the 8.5 at Cavenders and return the 9s if they did. Not a soul asked me if I was aware of the return policy when I made this $378 purchase (though I realize, now, I should have asked). I just feel like it's courteous and shows concern for the customer to inform them of such things. So now I'm stuck with a pair of very expensive boots that are probably not my size. I do love them, but I could have seen this going much smoother at Cavenders, where the sales people are tremendously helpful...which is a MUST if you are wanting to get the right pair of boots that'll satisfy you for a good while.

Amazing Selection and Customer Service to boot!

I love my Old Gringos so much that I came back to get boots for the whole family! The selection is so good that we could all get boots that are unique. I get so many compliments on my boots, that when the sole had some problems, Texas Boots fixed me right up and sent them back to get fixed. They are as good as new. Still get compliments on them every time I wear them. Gotta love that!

On 5/29/12 I purchased Ariat boots from Texas Boot Co. The soles started separating, called the manufacturer, they said to go back to Texas Boot Co for the warranty. I called Texas Boot Co, asked what was needed, after being put on hold several times, was told bring in proof of purchase and boots. I explained that I did not live in Bastrop, so were you sure that was all I needed, yes. We went down that night, with proof of purchase and boots, the owner Marc Conselman was gardening out front. We walked in and told the saleswoman, she walk outside to speak with Mr. Conselman. She came back inside and stated they couldn't help us. I asked to speak with Mr. Conselman personally since dealing with his dead plants seemed more important to him than his customers. (we had purchased two pairs of boots totally approximately 350.00 dollars, point being, I would think you wanted return business) Mr. Conselman told us that they didn't handle warranty issues for the manufacturers they represent without even looking at the boots, and that a pair of work boots can only be expected to last six months. Then asked us to leave before he called the police because he didn't want confrontation. We were talking, no confrontation, he then walked to the door and told us to leave. My wife was born and raised in Bastrop, and has never had a business treat her like this before. The Texas Boot Company treats you well when you purchase merchandise, but when it comes to consumer service one word "none". Evidently, Mr. Conselman got his ideas of how to conduct business from the big city, where businesses only care about the almighty dollar and customer service is non existent. All this could have been avoided if I had been informed that they didn't handle warranty issues for the manufacturer while I was on the phone with them. So consumer beware of this company backing their merchandise, trying to help you, or even caring.

OMG! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! The only place to go if you NEED boots. Love how the cute cowboy offered me a glass of wine while I shopped. Most impressed that he talked me out of the boot that I initially wanted and helped me find one that fit my foot better. SOOOO glad that he did, too. The boot selection can be overwhelming, but it is nothing that a glass of wine and a cute cowboy can't fix. Stopping here everytime I drive from Houston to Austin!!! I think I just found a new reason to need more boots. :)

This establishment has an excellent selection of boots, although they lack alternate sizes, and their service is above average when you are buying the boots. When you are trying to return them, though, this is an entirely different matter. Firstly, you can test the boots for a day and return them, only if you haven't scuffed them up at all. Secondly, if you try to exchange them if they are not what you wanted, they will make it extremely difficult for you. First of all, they will try to make it out as if you have done something to the boot to get it replaced. Secondly, once you get them to half-believe you didn't do it, they will try to convince you to take your boot back and just deal with it. If that fails, then they will take the boots back, only to send them to the factory that manufactured them to "deduce" whether they should exchange them. This takes a minimum of two weeks. After this, they will make you sign a receipt saying that is not an exchange, and that they are only checking to see if the manufacturer believes it is a defect on the boot. After all of this ridiculous hogwash, they will not call you, nor inform you if your boots have returned. They will not respond to phone calls, nor do they state their hours so that you may pay them a visit. They are condescending, offensive, and petty. If I where to give this place a rating, they would only receive a single minuscule star, for while their selection is satisfactory and their staff is decent, the overall experience I have sustained is one of complete dissatisfaction.

Sincerely,

The Fighting Fiddler

The Customer is correct that we do not exchange worn merchandise. This customer initially asked for an exchange for worn boots that were the wrong size. We are a fair retailer, but fairness also dictates that one can not take a used boot back, and put in on the shelf and resell it as a new boot to other customers. This customer then called the manufacturer directly and claimed the boot had a defect and asked for a smaller size then his original size. We are a fair retailer, but if we gave boots away anytime someone outgrew them or bought and wore the wrong size for an extended period of time, we would not be in business very long! We appreciate that this customer was impressed with our selection and that our staff to be very helpful.

Great Store!!!

The Texas Boot Company is the essence of cool! Not sure how else to describe it -They have more boots than you can dream of, and I could spend a few hours just looking at their displays - an old John Deere Wagon, a full mount grizzly bear, a moose, stingray boots, but the people there make the difference!. Pretty neat place to stop on your way into Austin.
