Saint Ambrose Catholic Church

I attended school in early '70s before it clustered with surrounding Catholic schools. During adolescence I attend the church. My first paying job was cooking breakfast and answering phones on Sunday mornings. I was allowed to organize a library in the front parlor of the rectory. Fr Henry was sent to integrate the parish in the late '60s, legendary in Park Heights. He oversaw the shared ministry with fellow priest, sisters, archdiocese first permanent deacons and lay ministers. The parish had always been enabling to me, during high years, '80s I operated a library in the front parlor of the rectory before leaving to attend Morehouse College. Fr Henry allowed friends and I to clean the church and once allowed a Jewish guy, neighborhood guy and myself to make an over night retreat in the belfry in cold of winter. The rectory was the hub of activity during the week. The food pantry, AA meetings, catechism classes, bible study, choir rehearsal and meetings were held there. Great place!
