After her first year of law school, Lauren worked as a law clerk at Levin & Curlett, where she worked directly under the managing partner on white collar criminal cases and other defense matters. Most notably, she sat second chair in a reverse waiver hearing in a high-profile murder case, a proceeding that ended favorably and left a lasting impression on the need for justice reform. Lauren then worked as a law clerk for Brown Goldstein & Levy, a firm that specializes in civil rights litigation, where she spent nearly a year under some of the finest disability rights lawyers in the country on discrimination cases. Lauren also served as a student attorney at the National Association of the Deaf, worked for Delegate Brooke Lierman during the 2017 Maryland General Assembly, and interned for U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephanie A. Gallagher. Finally, she was a Board Member of the Maryland Public Interest Law Project during all three years of law school.

Ben served on the Appellate Judicial Nominating Commission of Maryland from 1995 through 2014 and has previously served on the Judicial Compensation Commission of Maryland and the Review Board of the Attorney Grievance Commission. He is a past member of the Board of Governors of the Maryland State Bar Association and was formerly Co-Chair of the Maryland Legal Aid Bureau’s Equal Justice Council. Ben represents clients in appeals and business, antitrust and contract disputes and is also an accomplished mediator and arbitrator. He is a member of ADR Maryland, an elite panel of Maryland attorneys who serve as alternative dispute resolution neutrals.

Workers Compensation
Viveros v. Landcrafters, LLC, decided on December 16, 2015, Andy Baida convinced the Maryland Court of Special Appeals to reverse the trial court's dismissal of his client's worker's compensation claim and remand the case for a trial. The trial court dismissed the claim on the ground that the record of the proceedings before the Workers' Compensation Commission was not timely transmitted to the trial court. The appellate court reversed, holding that there was substantial compliance with the Maryland Rule governing submittal of the record and that a delay in transmitting a portion of the record resulted in no prejudice.
Employment Contract
Hariri v. Dahne reversed a judgment awarding damages against two dentists for breaching their employment contracts with the owners of a dental practice. The appellate court held that the dental practice owners failed to prove that lost profits damages were reasonably foreseeable and calculated with reasonable certainty. Andy Baida represented one of the dentists.

Medical Malpractice
In Sethi v. Bent (March 15, 2021), the Court of Special Appeals affirmed a $1.8 million judgment entered in a medical malpractice case, holding that the Circuit Court did not abuse its discretion by limiting the defendant healthcare providers’ cross-examination of the plaintiffs’ expert witness. Rosenberg Martin Greenberg attorneys Andy Baida and Jessica Duvall represented the plaintiffs in the appeal.

Foreclosure
RMG attorneys Gerard Gaeng and Stuart Cherry successfully represented a mortgage servicer before the Court of Special Appeals. The claim was brought by a borrower, who alleged that RMG’s client purportedly mishandled the refinance of the borrower’s house, leading to its foreclosure. RMG previously represented the mortgage servicer in the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County, which dismissed the claim. On May 17, 2017, in an unpublished opinion, the Court of Special Appeals affirmed the dismissal, agreeing with RMG’s argument that the borrower’s claim was barred by the statute of limitations.
