Greenspring Pediatric Dentistry

Dental Examination
We try very hard to make your child's treatment physically comfortable and enjoyable. All of our care is based on the behavior management technique Tell-Show-Do. This management technique prepares your child for dental treatment by telling and showing your child what we are going to do before we do it. During all visits, we believe in giving your child lots of praise. We begin the first visit by introducing the office environment and the staff. For children two and above, we recommend an oral examination, a cleaning, the application of fluoride, and any necessary radiographs (x-rays). After a thorough study of our findings, we will prepare and discuss a treatment plan for your child's dental needs. This plan will provide guidance on dental and oral development, fluoride status, non-nutritive oral habits, injury prevention, oral hygiene, and the effects of diet on the dentition. Although no restorative work is performed at this time, emergency needs will be assessed and treated if appropriate.

Dental Sealants
With two extra years of training beyond dental school, all our doctors have an individualized approach with each child. Their philosophy is to make dental visits fun while teaching children the importance of oral health. Our goal at Greenspring Pediatric Dentistry is focused on prevention- we educate patients and parents about the importance of a healthy diet, proper brushing and flossing, and regular dental checkups. We also place sealants (coating to protect teeth) and fluoride to help prevent cavities.

Orthodontics
A pediatric patient not only has a different dentition than adults but he/she may have specific dental and behavioral needs that are unique to a child. These needs may include orthodontics, dental sealants, fluoride applications or home treatments, or just simply education in oral hygiene. In addition to treating existing dental problems, our office focuses on prevention through patient and parent education. We like to feel that you and your child do not come to our office to have their ”cavities fixed” but rather to prevent them. Our mission is to provide all of the educational tools necessary for our patients to enjoy a cavity-free future.

General Dentistry
Dr. Neel Satpute was raised in San Diego, California. He attended the University of Southern California School of Dentistry in Los Angeles and graduated in 2001. During his training, he participated in several volunteer organizations which provided underprivileged children with dental care. Following dental school, he practiced general dentistry for two years. It was during those years he realized his true passion: taking care of children. Dr. Satpute received his specialty training in pediatric dentistry at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Following his specialization, he practiced in thePhiladelphia suburbs for two years. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association and the Maryland State Dental Association. Dr. Satpute is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
