Overall
$3700 in damages

I purchased my 2012 Ford Fusion in November of 2013. Since I purchased the car I have taken it to Sparkling Image Mobil 1 Express lube shop at 2301 H Street in Bakersfield, Ca. 933013 times to have the oil changed. The last oil change was on August 6, 2014. On the evening of August 29th, I heard my breaks making a scrapping sound. On September 2, 2014 I took my car into Mark's Automotive . The technician found that my front breaks where metal to metal. He also discovered that someone had put what appears to be transmission fluid mixed in with my brake fluid. Due to the fact that Sparkling Image is the only place that has been under the hood of my car and the timing of this discovery that the damage was caused by the technician at Sparkling Image Mobil 1 Express Lube.

The mechanic stated that my vehicle is unsafe to drive and I am now currently without a vehicle. The estimated damage is at a minimum of $3,700. The entire brake system is damaged. I have an estimate for repairs which includes replacement of Master Brake Cylinder, ABS Unit, hoses, multiple cans of brake cleaner, master cylinder reservoir, numerous break hoses, brake fluid, 2 rear calipers and 2 front calipers, and a 8 hours of labor.

On September 5, 2014, I spoke to Alex the Manager of the lube shop. When I asked him if they check the brake fluid when doing an oil change, he told me that they do in fact check the brake fluid and will add fluid if it is low. However, they have no way of listing that it was done. Only when i told Alex what happened to my car, did he try to say that brake fluid isn't something that they check. I also spoke with the Location Manager Carl Fisher who then went over to Mark's Automotive to look at the fluid. He informed me that he was denying my claim because brake fluid isn't something they check and the records they have of my car show that my transmission fluid was full. He then stated to have my insurance company contact him.

If my claim is being denied based solely on those two things, then there a huge problem with this. Based on what the manager Alex told me about checking the brake fluid and filling it if it is low then this reasoning is completely discounted. Also, if you look over the records from the 3 oil changes done on my car you will find several inconsistencies.

In February and May, it was stated that my fuel filter was "OK", However in August it was "N/A'

My power steering fluid was listed as "Full" However my transmission fluid was listed as "OK", What is the difference between the two? Does "full" mean you filled it or that it was full? Does "ok" mean ok you filled it or that it was ok no need to fill?

Check cabin filter is "N/A"? Why is t not applicable? Do your techs not know where to check for the cabin filter?

In February and May, my battery tested "N/A" however, in August, it tested "Good". Why test it one time but not the others.

With all of these inconsistencies, I don't feel confident that the Mobil 1 Express Lube Technicians are following any kind of protocol. Nor do I feel confident that you location manager knows with 100% certainty that his technician did not mistake my brake fluid for transmission fluid. Due to the fact that this business is using your brand, I thought you might want to know how they are doing business.
