The Sinuses are air filled cavities inside the bones of the face and forehead and lined with mucous membrane, which constantly produces liquid that drain into the nasal cavity. Any causes of obstructions of such drainage can produce infections in those cavities. Symptoms may include fever, pressure and pain, heavy nasal, post nasal discharge, headaches, and fatigue syndrome. CT scans are helpful and medical regiments are initiated. Successful functional endsoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) is the gold standard for treating chronic sinusitis. Modern miniature instruments are inserted inside the nose under fiber optic magnifications on a TV screen. This procedure can be done safely with fewer invasions and under general anesthesia as an outpatient. The result is to open the ostia to facilitate the cilia of the sinus membrane to flow out thru the nasal cavity.

Medical Weight Loss

It can be associated with sleep apnea with significant implications such as waking up tired, or headache, feeling sleepy, and falling asleep at work or while driving, short temper, or diminished attention. A detailed history and upper airway examination is important and many diagnostic techniques including multiple sensors, a sleep at home sensor, and in a sleep lab to verify the severity. Many treatment modalities like nonsurgical and air pressure devices (CPAP and BPAP) or surgical outpatient procedures in selected patients are very helpful.
Ear Infections
Middle ear infections cause earaches; pressure and hearing loss which are frequently experienced by children and in some adults are due to Eustachian tube blockage, nasal allergies, enlarged adenoids, and nasal obstruction. In children, hearing loss may affect their ability to learn and speak if not treated. Ear infections may cause eardrum perforations, chronic drainage with foul discharge, and may signify the forming of an infected cyst cholesteatoma, which can destroy middle ear hearing bones known as ossicles, and expand to the inner ear mastoid and into the head.

Dr. Victor Kitt completed his residency training from the University of Chicago. He was then certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose & Throat). After practicing in Chicago for a few years he received a fellowship in Advanced Head & Neck Cancer treatment at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinic and completed that program in 1984. At that time he decided to move his practice to Bakersfield, California.
