Bell R Scott Law Office

I hired Scott Bell because a family member of mine was currently using him for Social Security, too. Needless to say that the family member using him felt the same exact way I do & said they would never recommend him as well. My experience was that when I 1st visited him in the office, we got all paper work ready, signed all documents, explained to me what I could expect in the beginning stages of court, we shook hands & that was the end of our 1st meeting. Not a bad 1st impression. His office calls to set up a second appointment & gives me a date and time & I accept. I show up for our 2nd appointment, am shown into Mr. Bell's office & am greeted by a very busy & distracted Mr. Bell & sone of his associates. His associate is much more present & courteous then Bell. We sit down to the meeting where I am advised that Mr. Bells associate will be the person handling my case due to the fact the Mr. Bell at this time has too big of a case load & apologizes. I re-sign all the paperwork that I initially signed with Scott & was thanked and hurried out the door & out of the office. Now feeling very insignificant & unimportant, I go home concerned & don't have any reassurance, but decide to give the new attorney a chance. Now I call in, again, to make the next appointment with the new attorney & every time I call in they have hired or fired the receptionist, or the paralegal & it is now apparent that the right-hand doesn't know what the left-hand is doing EVER at this place!!! So now it is getting closer to the court date, i have tried calling in to set an appointment/meeting to discuss last minute details with the new attorney, but never get a call back. Now more time has passed & the actual court date is here. I show up about 45 min early as directed by the attorney so we can talk about the judge, questioning, etc. So, I show up that morning, early, so we can talk, but he's still not here. So I wait & wait & wait, until we are 5 minutes away from going in with the judge. At this point the security guard says, if hes not here by the time you are walking through those doors to the courtroom, he wil be locked out & you will represent yourself! When they came to the double doors to call my name, he still wasn't here & I was about to cry! As the security guard was shutting the doors and getting ready to lock them, my attorney came running around the corner. So, it didnt even really feel like I had an attorney there with me anyways! Oh & they by law in the state of California are not allowed to charge more than a certain amount, well guess WHAT!? They over charged me! They over charged me by over $1000.00!
