Urinary Incontinence
Currently, 13 million Americans-men and women- experience some form of urinary incontinence (UI). One out of four women suffers from occasional and/or frequent episodes of urinary incontinence, and this number is on the rise. Many women feel this is a "normal" part of child-bearing and/or aging, when in fact, many cases of UI can be resolved through exericises and/or bladder retraining.

Ultrasound
McKenzie credits the patient's ability to learn the principles and empowers them to be in control of their own symptom management, which can reduce dependency on medical intervention. The McKenzie Method promotes the body's potential to heal itself without medication, heat, cold, ultrasound, needles, surgery or a force dependent on the practitioner.
MRI
In early September 2019, Pam was bitten by a mosquito. Typically not a serious issue, but unfortunately for Pam, this mosquito was carrying West Nile Virus. The virus had spread to her spinal cord and brain, and Pam was life-flighted to Boise and closely monitored in the ICU. After the worst was over, she continued to recover in the hospital and then in a rehab center. During this time, it was discovered via MRI scan, that the virus was still active in her spinal cord, and was causing Pam to have difficulty using her legs, especially her left leg.

Orthopedics
Sebastian graduated from PIMA Medical in Seattle, WA as a Physical Therapist Assistant. He moved to South Lake Tahoe, CA and began working at Barton Center for Orthopedics and Wellness. He continues to work with the US Ski/Snowboard team to implement and develop "Return to Snow" programming for the US team, as well as our local community. Sebastian was raised on a ranch in the Baker Valley After graduating high school in North Powder, he joined the Marines and deployed as a Combat Engineer, completing two tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. Sebastian enjoys spending time with his family, riding motorcycles, mountain biking, skiing, training (both inside and outside of the gym), hunting, and fishing. Sebastian moved back to Baker City in August 2019 and joined the BVPT team shortly after.
Orthopedic Surgery
Merrie Hensley has demonstrated an abundance of all these qualities over the past three months of her rehabilitation, following an orthopedic surgery on her knee. Merrie always came into the clinic with a positive attitude toward her physical therapy (and physical therapists!) as well as work ethic that many others in our gym observed and admired.

Physical Therapy
The strength of the human spirit can be incredibly inspiring. At Baker Valley Physical Therapy we would like to recognize one of our patients who fully embraces the “Spirit of Determination”.
Occupational Therapy
She was able to return home to begin the Herculean task of learning to walk again. She began with in-home physical and occupational therapy with her first goal being able to stand up out of her wheelchair and hold onto a walker. That goal then blossomed into taking one step with the walker, then six steps, then 20.

In March of 2020, Pam began her journey at Baker Valley Physical Therapy. At this point she was still relying on a wheelchair for her mobility most of the day. Through dedicated work in pool therapy and traditional physical therapy, she was able to move past relying on the wheelchair. Now, with the assistance of a walker, she is able to enjoy the majority of the activities she did pre-WNV, which includes making and selling her popular goat cheese (we’ll try the chive flavor, please).
