Dr. Grillo joined Mid Allergy Group in July of 2016. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and received his medical degree from the State University of New York, Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn. Dr. Grillo completed his residency in Pediatrics at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center and is board certified in Pediatrics. Dr. Grillo went on to complete his fellowship in adult and Pediatric Allergy & Immunology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and at the Nemours A.I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE. During this time Dr. Grillo has conducted research regarding penicillin allergy in the pediatric population and received extensive training in the area of pediatric food allergy and oral food challenges. He is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (AAAAI) and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (ACAAI).
Emergency Care
Jennifer joined the group in 2018. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Gettysburg College in 1994 and received her physician assistant degree at Touro College in 1998. Jennifer brings 20 years of experience to the practice. She started her career as an emergency room PA at South Nassau Communities Hospital and later at John T. Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson, NY. In the 8 years prior to joining Mid Island Allergy Group, Jennifer worked along side, Dr. Paul Lusman, an allergist in Port Jefferson who recently retired. She is a member of the NYS Society of PAs.

Immunotherapy (“allergy shots or vaccinations or allergy desensitization”) – A form of preventive and anti-inflammatory treatment of allergy to substances such as pollen, dust mites, fungi and stinging insect venom. It involves administering gradually increasing doses of the substance (allergen) to which the person is allergic. The incremental increases of the allergen cause the immune system to become less sensitive to the substance, which reduces the symptoms of allergy when the substances are encountered in the future, and the benefits can last for years after a course of treatment.

Dr. Jake Rosenblum joined Mid Island Allergy Group in July of 2023. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Tulane University and his medical degree from NYIT-COM. Dr. Rosenblum completed his residency in Medicine at NYU Langone – Long Island Hospital and is board certified in Internal Medicine. He then went on to complete his Allergy & Immunology fellowship also at NYU Langone – Long Island Hospital in Mineola, NY.

Eczema
Eczema / Atopic Dermatitis – An inflammation of the skin, usually causing itching and sometimes accompanied by crusting, scaling or blisters. A type of eczema often made worse by allergen exposure is termed “atopic dermatitis.” This condition is particularly common in pediatric patients.

Dr. Zitt is a Fellow of the American College of Allergy Asthma and Immunology where he is Past President and has served on its Executive Committee, Board of Regents, and ACAAI Foundation. He presently serves on the Program and International Committees, both of which he has chaired in the past. He has also chaired the CME/CPD Committee, the Pharmaceutical Symposium Committee and the Sports Medicine, Credentials and Abstract Committees as well as the Scientific Council. Dr. Zitt is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology where he is active in serving on the Public Education Committee. He is on the Board of Directors for the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America where he serves as Vice President of Research and on the Board of Directors of the World Allergy Organizations where chairs the Emerging Societies Committee. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Joint Council of Allergy Asthma and Immunology.
