Farmers Insurance - Mike Metschan

I have been with Mike Metschan for 17 years and had one claim on my house for a roof. I had a pipe bust under the foundation and because the water did not damage walls, baseboards etc. they did not cover any of $5400 cost to repair. I have trusted Mikes advice for coverage on my house and cars over the years and became very disappointed in his lack of advice on what matters most!

I had been a customer of Mike's for a long time, but they lost me due to some questionable (if not nefarious) behavior. I wanted to change my vehicle coverage from business to personal with a little less than three months remaining til expiration. They informed me that there was negligible difference in the price. However, when I received my renewal, they mistakenly mailed me the business charge. Then when I discovered what the personal insurance would cost, it was significantly less. In fact, the personal renewal was nearly $30 less monthly than what I was paying on the business policy prior to renewal. When I pointed this out, they had no reasonable explanation. After all, why would I have wanted to pay a higher premium when I tried to change it over anyway? A friend of mine who had his own insurance business (with Farmer's) told me that agents don't like to cancel in the middle of a policy that hasn't lapsed because the agency winds up eating the cost of the remainder of the policy they purchased. You can find a more honest agent out there....hopefully.
