Please do NOT waste your time there. I asked them to brush out a matted wig they tried to sell me, it was the only one left so I was going to purchase it. However, it was when two of the ladies REFUSED to brush the wig that I kindly left. The lady who manages the store is VERY unprofessional.

New in austin texas this is the first beauty supply store I have been to and will be my last as long as I am in austin texas big joy beauty supply you have earned my loyalty as a customer. Your selection of different options of hair overwhelming, your staff is very plesant very friendly.... thank you for such a wonderful memorable shopping experience.

the store is very nice and they have a wide variety of selections but the ugly lady who manage it have no customer service skills at all she is rude and nasty I wish I could talk to the owner of the place so that they can replace her ass I will not shop there any more as long as she is there

Sold me the nastiest hair grease... It smells terrible. I went back to exchange she said they don't exchange. So they are money whores and dont care about consumer retention. So if you are looking for tampered with products to streTch their pockets and provide less hair, high cost, and are inclined to purchasing wrong products and woukd like to return/ exchange it don't come here

1* only because they have a wide variety of suppies!They sold my client hair that was not %100 human and lied about it. They would always give my clients the wrong product just to sell it and then give them the blues and talk smart when you ask them for a return.

Never again will I shop at this establishment, they do not have a clue about the products they sell and I have never been treated so poorly spending my money, I left quicker than I entered the store.

Rude Staff

I will never go to this place again, not only was I rushed out the store by the old lady because she was so rushed to close after waiting 20 minutes for someone to assist me. I walked out and went across the highway to the other beauty supply store, don't waste your time in this high priced store because they do not appreciate your business.

I'm from New York, so I already know that prices in Austin beauty supply stores are significantly higher than those in NY. However this store rubbed me the wrong way because 1) i bought some braiding hair there and I was pretty sure they put only half the pack in there to make money. MIND YOU this is synthetic braiding hair (freetress water wave) so there was no need to be that stingy. 2) the salespeople weren't rude to me, but one of the salesgirls was talking a whole bunch of mess about "Stupid" costumers she had encountered during the day and their "trashy" hair choices. But the selection of stuff and proximity to my house will likely make me go back.

These people have no idea what customer service consists of. I was told by my hair dresser to go there for glue since although their reviews suck it's just glue right? Wrong. They sold me dried out glue which I was unable to use and when I went in the next day to address the issue the old lady behind the counter laughed in my face. It took every ounce of patience I have I order to not slap her across her smiling face as she laughed and refused to atleast exchange it. Please dont ever go here. Save yourselves the trouble and just go elsewhere if possible.

I got excellent personalized customer service and great advice. I witnessed a rude and impatience customers wanting internet prices, who got mad because the employee was helping me and she had to wait her turn. I thought the prices fair and store well equipped. Being on chemo, they knew exactly want I needed and made it painless. I had brain surgery and must wear a partial to cover up the spot wear the hair did not come back.They even showed me how to create natural looking eye brows! I will be back for the great service and prices.

This place is loaded with great items but it lacks severely concerning customer service.

This is the BEST store i ever have been to in Austin! It has the best wigs for a very good price! The employees are sooo nice and always ask for help! I save all of my money just to go and buy products at this store! It's the highlight of my week going there! There are the best hair brands and other high quality products! I HIGHLY recommend this store! This is a place you need to go to scratch off your bucket list!

I don't understand why all these reviews are so negative, because I absolutely love this place. Every time I go in there, people always greet me and ask me if I need any help. Not knowing much about hair and wanting to buy some track hair and wigs for a project, they were incredibly helpful and more than welcome to recommend me the best option. Compared to other beauty stores, it's always cheaper and the quality is much better! I really recommend!

Do not shop at this establishment. They are very aware that the products being sold are of no quality becuase NOTHING can be returned for money or in-store credit. They are rude and have no customer service skills.

I will never buy anything from this place again. I had brought my 4 year old daughter in with me to buy 3 wigs. My little one had to use the restroom. The employees refused my child use of their bathroom. The poor kid was grabbing herself and dancing around. She almost peed her pants. Thank goodness for the bank who let her use the potty. I believe that decision was, flat out, cruel.

I went to Big Joy and have been a customer ther for several months. I have always received good service there. But on the night of 2/1/2012, there were two very rude salespeople there. As soon as I walked in the door, I received a statement or a yell that said "we are closing in 3 minutes". I had driven 30 miles to get there and had started out earlier but got caught in traffic and there was 15 mintues left before closing. I knew exactly what I was looking for and knew I that I could go in and get out quickly. I've worked retail and know that when it is getting time to close you want to be able to leave, but I also know that if it is not for the customer, I would have no job. The other salesperson had been waiting on two other people, but she had started a conversation on her cell phone and did not want to be bothered with them. She kept telling them as they tried to make their selection to "hurry, we are trying to close here". I just really hate this type of behavior, so I just went ahead and left and went elsewhere to a competitior that was still open to make my purchase. I will not go back there again.

As an educator in a cosmetology school, we took our students here to buy hair for a school project. The students were specifically looking for hair that was to be colored. After asking the sales person if the hair they were looking at could be colored, and being assured it was, two groups bought hair for their school project, they unfortunately were upset to find that the hair was NOT able to be colored. Buyer beware, even though they LIED to my students, they refuse to do anything to help. We of course will refrain from doing business with this company.
