Furniture Medic by Joey

I do not recommend Furniture Medic by Joey to anyone. We contracted Furniture Medic by Joey to refinish our kitchen cabinets. Unfortunately I made the mistake of paying Mr. O’Rourke (owner) in full before the job was finished, based on his memory of what was owed (no invoice) and a story of how he wishes to pay his people as soon as possible. After that, he never showed up to install our last two kitchen cabinet doors with glass inserts, and he never returned them. To make things worse, his memory included an extra $1,200 for quoted work we agreed in advance not to have done (and which was not). That was almost 6 months ago. In the meantime we’ve tried to contact him multiple times by phone and e-mail. He only responded after we contacted a representative from the parent Furniture Medic Corporation (who was kind enough to contact him on our behalf). In an e-mail Mr. O’Rourke promised that he would come with a check for the over-payment and the cabinet doors. But he never followed up. He ignored a claim we made through the Better Business Bureau (by the way, his BBB rating is F). Finally, as a note, if you have to contract with Mr. O’Rourke, don’t be naïve as I was. The first time I talked with him he seemed like someone who takes great pride in his business and is very passionate about his work. He was telling me how he goes extra mile to make costumer happy (for example, by painting several samples before choice is made), but once we paid him the first half he rushed our choices and had no regards for our schedule.
