In 1988, after having worked in pediatrics for years, Dr. Milagros Cordero, OTR/L, and Mr. Barry Landry, PT, joined forces to pioneer a unique service for children. Their vision was to develop a playful approach to treatment, following the child’s lead and welcoming parent, grandparent, sibling, and caregiver involvement. Out of this vision ITTS for Children was born. Shortly after development, a parent-training component and sponsoring of professional training were added to address the emerging need for these services in the child rehabilitation community.

Autism
Her interest lies in supporting clients and families through neurological differences and disorders across the lifespan from Autism to Alzheimer’s. Joann is a parent herself and has been a caregiver to the elderly. She has first-hand understanding of the unique emotional challenges that parents and caregivers face as they support their families.

Mental Health
She has worked in the mental health field for the past 30 years and has applied the DIRFloortime® model for the past 20 years. She has completed Floortime® Workshops internationally and co-directs the DIRFloortime® Spanish-speaking Group with Dr. Milagros Cordero. Marianela enjoys working to counsel the parents of children with special needs and treating both children and adults who benefit from the DIRFloortime® approach. Marianela and her husband are the parents of a young adult.

Physical Therapists

Occupational Therapy
Dr. Milagros “Mili” Cordero is the founder of ITTS Family (formerly ITTS for Children). She is a licensed, registered occupational therapist with over 40 years of experience treating children and adults with developmental disabilities. She received her basic training in occupational therapy from the University of Puerto Rico. Her Masters degree in Pediatric Occupational Therapy and her Doctoral degree in Special Education are from Boston University. Dr. Cordero is a certified senior clinician and faculty member through the Interdisciplinary Council on Development and Learning (ICDL). ICDL champions the work of Dr. Stanley Greenspan and the DIRFloortime® approach. Additionally, Dr. Cordero is a member of Comunidades Inclusivas, an initiative for Spanish speaking professionals spearheaded by Dr. Cecilia Breinbauer, which focuses on respect, integrated education, and emotional attunement in the area of inclusiveness. Dr. Cordero is also certified in the use of Therapeutic Listening, SAMONAS and Tomatis sound therapies.
