Primary Care
Your child should have a well child visit at the intervals listed below. We recommend that you schedule appointment online (PatientPortal or healow) or call our office 3 months in advance to schedule an appointment with your child's primary care provider on the date that best fits your needs.
Ear Infections
Colds, upper respiratory infections, and URIs are common terms we use to describe viral illnesses that cause nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, fever, and cough. The fever usually lasts for 2-3 days, and the cough with congestion and runny nose may last for 5-10 days. The typical preschool-age child may experience 6-10 colds per year. Most colds resolve on their own with rest and fluids, but some may lead to ear infection, sinus infection, asthma attack, or other complications. If you are concerned about the possibility of one of these complications, please have your child seen in our office for an evaluation.

We work hard to provide comprehensive medical care and serve as your medical home. To that end, we expect that you contact our office FIRST before seeking specialty care, or heading to another provider for urgent care. We want to be involved in either providing care in our office where appropriate, or referring you to the most appropriate specialist and helping to coordinate your care.

After earning her M.D. at Albany Medical College and completing her pediatric residency at NYU Langone Hospital Manhattan, Dr. Saha practiced pediatrics in Massachusetts, and then relocated to Northern Virginia, where she continued working in pediatrics before joining Penguin Pediatrics. She also pursued additional training in child psychiatry at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.

If you have concerns about your child's behavioral development, please call our office and ask to speak to our Behavioral Health Coordinator. We will discuss your concerns and gather information that will be used to determine how we can best help your child. If a Behavioral Evaluation with one of our providers is needed, we will schedule this visit for you and provide you with assessment tools that you can complete prior to the your visit.

Should your insurance deny any service or material for any reason, you will be responsible for full payment to us. You may pursue any reimbursement you deem payable directly from your insurance company. Insurance coverage varies depending on individual plans and contracts, but we have found that some plans do not cover the following: iScreen (photo-screen): recommended by AAP from 9 months to 4 years, Vision Check, Hearing Screen, Urinalysis, Fluoride, Hemoglobin, rapid flu test, rapid strep test, wart treatment, dressing/wound care, and ear wax removal and “after hour surcharge” for services rendered to sick patients after 6pm, holidays and weekends.

Physical Therapists

Sports Medicine
The team evaluates your child’s physical health to ensure there are no underlying health issues that might interfere with their ability to play or put them at increased risk for injury. Sports physicals are different from the typical well-child checkup because their goal is to be sure your child can safely enjoy sports without risking harm to their body.
Physical Therapy
If the team at Penguin Pediatrics discovers an underlying medical issue that may interfere with your child’s sports participation, they may recommend a follow-up examination. In some cases, they may provide a referral to a specialist if they feel your child needs physical therapy or further treatment.
