Dental Sealants
A sealant is a flowable plastic that is applied to the chewing surfaces of teeth. The anatomy of back teeth consists of several depressions and grooves, which are very prone to trapping food debris and bacteria. The majority of tooth decay occurs in these hard-to-clean grooves.

Fillings
Ultimately, it is the decision of the patient whether or not to replace fully intact silver fillings. However, Amalgam (mercury-silver) fillings have a tendency to corrode over time and either create a metallic taste and/or darken. They can leak and cause stains on your teeth or gums. Therefore, many people find them less attractive than tooth-colored fillings. Also, the placement of an amalgam filling requires removal of some healthy tooth structure, because it depends on depth and size to keep this type of filling in place; it does not bond. Ultimately this results in weaker tooth structure, especially if this type of filling occupies 70% of the original tooth structure. In a case like this, the dentist may recommend a full coverage crown for added strength and longevity.
Resin Composite
The composite fillings are a mixture of acrylic resin and glass particles that produce a tooth-colored restoration. This type of material may be self-hardening or may be hardened by exposure to blue light. Dental fillings are done to fill in the spaces made by the dentist, where the diseased tooth once existed. Sometimes it is used to replace a portion of a broken or chipped tooth.
Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic that bond directly to the front surfaces of teeth. In certain situations, they are an ideal choice for improving your smile and are quite popular due to their translucency and life-like aesthetics.
Crowns
Crowns are permanent dental restorations used for teeth that are either cracked, highly damaged, have a large pre-existing filling, or misaligned. A crown is custom made and fitted over a tooth, like a cap, to repair any or all of the dental conditions previously noted. A portion of tooth is removed, by the dentist in our Apopka office, to allow for the replacement of tooth structure with porcelain. The fabrication of a crown is an exact science. It is made to allow for a perfect seal and replicate an ideal tooth contour. This prevents the trapping and accumulation of bacteria, which could lead to decay or bone loss.
Bridges
Crowns and bridges usually take two, sometimes three, appointments to complete. At the first visit, the teeth are prepared and molds of the teeth are taken. Temporary crowns or bridges are placed to protect the teeth while the custom restoration is being made. Since the teeth and face will be anesthetized, the tongue, lips, and roof of the mouth may be numb. Please refrain from eating and drinking hot beverages until the numbness has worn off.

Root Canal Treatment
Root Canals typically take one to two appointments to complete. During the course of treatment a patient may feel sensitivity to hot, cold and pressure. Injection sites may also be sore. Typically Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) can be used accordingly to the manufactures instructions to alleviate any discomfort a patient encounters. In some cases it is necessary to prescribe antibiotics and/or additional types of pain medication depending on that individual’s unique condition.

Dentures
Dentures are a prosthesis made from a strong, natural-looking acrylic, used to replace teeth in patients with some or all of their teeth missing.
Overdentures
Overdentures: These are dentures that actually snap into or over attachments that are secured to dental implants. This is a significant upgrade to unstable, moving traditional dentures.

Dental Implants
Implant Dentistry provides patients, that are missing teeth, a solution that resembles the closest thing to a natural tooth. A dental implant replaces the root portion of a missing tooth. Primarily made of titanium, a dental implant is literally screwed into the jawbone, under local anesthesia, preformed in our Apopka office. Tooth Extractions
After a tooth extraction, it is important for a blood clot to form to stop the bleeding and begin the healing process. That is why we ask you to bite on a gauze pad for 30-40 minutes after the appointment. If the bleeding or oozing continues to persist, place another moist gauze pad and bite firmly for another 30 minutes. You may have to do this several times.
