Make sure you know what you’re getting. After agreeing to the price and the work was started, all of the sudden some of work I requested was no longer included in the price I was given. I requested a written bid which I never received. I had already paid by this time. Still hasn’t finished what I requested and haven’t heard from him again. Talks big, follow through is poor. Very disappointed

I hired Handy Andy to build a prefab sunroom for me. The sunroom came in a kit, with complete materials and architectural drawings complete with instructions on exactly how to assemble it. When Jeff first came out he told us that he would turn it over to his employee to oversee the job. The guy he sent out was supposed to be an architect. We showed him the plans for what we were going to do and he told us they could do it for around 20Thousand dollars. Later he told us that the way to go would be to pay them an hourly wage because that way it would save us a lot of money. Over a year, Thousand dollars. Later he told us that the way to go would be to pay them an hourly wage because that way it would save us a lot of money. Over a year,A lot of frustration, and $30,000 later, I still did not have a finished room. When we were paying by the hour they sent out qualified workers and we were pretty happy with the work. It was taking way too long however, and we were close to running out of money. I told them that I needed a bid on finishing the job and not a "by the hour" bid. That was when things started falling apart. They began sending out unseasoned workman, calling them off this job to go work another and were letting our room set for days on end. I am not talking about the time that we had to let it set because we had run out of money. I am talking about times when they should have been working on the room. Jeff had told me from the beginning that if I had any complaints to contact him and he would straighten it out. He said his work was guaranteed. Imagine my surprise when I called him to complain about several discrepancies and Jeff, very disrespectfully, told me that he had "done me a favor" because a family member of mine had recommended him. He said it was a "friend deal". Jeff is not my friend. A family member knew him as a casual acquaintance and recommended him. One of the complaints I had was regarding a disability ramp they built half as long as was required by the Americans With Disabilities Act. After talking to his employee, who was in charge of our job, It took me actually getting hurt on that ramp before they finally came out and fixed it. The last contract we signed with him stated in the contract that they would "trim room". They sent someone out to install quarter round where it was needed and then didn't come back to finish. When I called I was told it would cost several hundred dollars more if I wanted the entire room trimmed out (around doors and one window). The trim that was installed was installed with a nail gun that left Gouges in the sheet rock everywhere it was nailed. It should have been done with a hammer. I called to complain about that, I was told that I was just looking for things to be wrong and they couldn't just keep sending the guys out to fix everything they did. there were lots of errors made along the way, one being that they didn't wire the ceiling for electricity before putting the roof on. This is going to make it extremely difficult to hang lighting in that room. The guy in charge of our job refused to work with the Sunroom Company, who was there to answer any questions they had along the way. The last communication I had with Handy Andy was to tell them that I had no more money for them. The work they were hired to do still remains unfinished. They will tell you I made too many changes in the plans, but those changes were all made very early, before the room was even started. I could go on, but really there are too many complaints to list here. Suffice it to say I will not be recommending Handy Andy to anyone in the future.

I had my deck rebuilt from scratch...they did a great job and it looks wonderful even a year and a half later. Didn't ask for much but got what I wanted and more. Guaranteed his work and no issues. Thumbs up to an owner who really wants to do right and who will put his reputation on the line. Satisfied!

I disagree with peggy

A beautiful deck and pergola was built for Peggy and Jack. Handy andy does not and never has guaranteed the stain because the company (Olympic) has a 3 year warranty that sadly they only cover cost of materials. Handy andy would gladly fix and structural problems with no questions asked. On another note if a persons deck faces south and has all day sun with frequent power washing or rinsing the seal will wear off much faster. Long story made short Handy andy cannot control how a deck ages or even the possibilities of bad product. But we did put our best foot forward to try and resolve the issue. You can try to make everyone happy all the time but sadly you cannot! And even though we had one neg complaint in 6 years(which I never want) I think one out of several hundred is not to horrible.

Cannot recommend this business. We used them to install a deck and a few months later the stain on the deck faded to the point of leaving bare wood. We called many times and was told our deck was under warranty and they were dealing with the stain company. Now we are being told the warranty only covered the product (which they were reimbursed for by the company) and we'd have to pay another $800 to have the deck re-stained. We did not choose this stain. I guess you can pick a cheap stain and then keep yourself in business by charging to apply another stain. They DO NOT stand behind their work. Have tried to work with Jeff, the owner of the company and got nowhere.
