Frontier Restaurant

3-star at best. One for the decor inside, no other area restaurants have a theme. One for the ample gravel parking lot and 2 driveways. One for the large medium priced menu.
The bathrooms are old and tiny, the entry way is awkward for limited mobility but there is a ramp.
Menu is large and unique to the area. Daily specials are predictable. Local customers tend to order the same items each time because they've cycled thru the various sandwiches.
Service lacks severely because it's all high school kids as waitresses and busboys.
there's a free daily paper to read and a big dining room so there's hardly ever a wait for a table, unlike the previous owners. Years ago this place was wall to wall customers all day and evening.
With the semi truck service across the street this is a poor man's truck stop.
Be advised the restaurant closes in the summer for a week of vacation, not a good thing when there are so few other choices in Amherst.
My husband hates this place and we always end up choose to drive 15 miles to Waupaca or Plover to get a decent meal.
His reasoning is that they don't cook anything to his liking and that's accurate. It's their way and I've never been satisfied with the way my order arrives, i.e. the meat medium well is far from it.
