The Candy Lady

This business is owned by a lady that I love so much. I have been going to her store for over 15 years and I don’t even live in New Mexico. But I go to Kentucky from Arizona and Colorado and I always stop buy to see her

I am torn about the one star I give, as I believe it is not quite fair, but I cannot bring myself to give any more than that. True, The Candy Lady does have good chocolates when they are fresh, but I do not know if I've had them when they are fresh!

The taste is always very good, but the texture is usually more chalky than creamy. I am also a little put off by the Breaking Bad theme she has adopted which is fine, but overdone already.



I have not been there in a year because I realized just how long she is willing to let her candies sit around before she sells them.

I was there as one of her first customers in her new location when she was unwrapping the chocolates that she made in her old store which closed down about three months prior. -And she was selling them full price.

What could I say? I didn't buy anything and I just never went back.

I also heard that the kitchen she left behind in the old location was filthy.

It is too bad, because I always thought her recipes were fabulous in their simplicity.

She does not focus on the sacrilege of mixing chili with chocolates. And yes, she probably is the best chocolate shop in N.M., which makes more of a point about N.M., than about her!
