Nutritional Counseling
Diana is a licensed Registered Dietitian, Registered Pharmacist, and a Certified Diabetes Educator. She is a native New Mexican and is bilingual in Spanish. Her area of expertise is in nutrition counseling and the management of pregnant women, with a specialty in pre-existing and gestational diabetes. Her knowledge of Hispanic and Native American food practices allows her to design meal plans that integrate the rich culture of our state.
Pediatric Care
Kathy was a faculty member in Pediatrics at St. Louis University and in OB/GYN at the University of New Mexico where she enjoyed teaching medical students, residents and fellows. She has mentored numerous genetic counseling graduate students and is still involved in UNM Maternal Fetal Medicine fellow education. Kathy has served as a board member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors, and won “Volunteer of the Year” award for the NSGC Prenatal Special Interest Group in 2016. She has facilitated workshops at the NSGC Annual Education Conference, and she was principal investigator for a multicenter collaborative research project, the results of which she presented at the NSGC Annual Education Conference in 2017.
Family Practice
Weston started his career working in psychiatry and family medicine, and continues to provide psychiatric services at a local psychiatric hospital in his free time. In general, psychiatric care for women during pregnancy is often difficult to find. Weston has been able to assist and provide insight into psychiatric illness and treatment in the pregnant population.

Gynecology
After 25 years of service, Diana retired from the University of New Mexico as faculty in the department of Obstetrics/Gynecology, division of Maternal Fetal Medicine, UNM School of Medicine. She began her service at UNM as a research nutritionist in women’s health, worked as a pharmacist at Milagro, a substance abuse center for pregnant women and managed the Diabetes in Pregnancy Program. Although she thoroughly enjoys teaching students/ residents/fellows from several disciplines, medical, nutrition, nursing, and pharmacy, her passion remains in counseling women with diabetes to optimize mother and baby outcomes. Her other great passion is travel. “Travel by nature requires us to adapt to new experiences and people. I enjoy learning from my patients as much as I enjoy counseling them throughout their pregnancy.”
Obstetrics
In addition to working as a maternal-fetal medicine specialist at Piñon Perinatal, Dr. Mozurkewich serves as an associate professor in the University of New Mexico Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and has published more than 40 research articles in her areas of interest that include: fish oil supplementation during pregnancy, induction of labor, use of ultrasound for measuring fetal growth, and pain relief after delivery for mothers with high blood pressure. Dr. Mozurkewich has had the pleasure of teaching medical students, residents, and maternal-fetal medicine fellows over many years. She currently serves as the assistant fellowship director for the University of New Mexico maternal-fetal medicine fellowship.
Pregnancy
Our MFM doctors have undergone advanced training to provide specialized care before, during, and after a high-risk pregnancy. The training and education involved in becoming an MFM requires 4 years of medical school, 4 years of Ob/Gyn training (residency), and 3 years of specialized experience in managing high-risk pregnancy conditions (fellowship).

Dr. Jain’s original research and commentary articles can be found in various scientific journals including Obstetrics & Gynecology, the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Seminars in Perinatology, Current Obstetrics and Gynecology Reports, Seminars in Fetal and Neonatal Medicine, BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, and Reproductive Sciences. He has also authored numerous textbook chapters on topics related to prenatal ultrasound diagnosis and intrapartum management.

Melissa is a licensed Registered Dietician and a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. For over twenty years she has been instrumental in providing health care and education in diabetes management to expectant mothers.
Endocrinology
Kristi was raised in Idaho, where she graduated from the University of Idaho with honors. She has practiced in numerous healthcare settings (including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, endocrinology clinics, schools, cancer centers, and dialysis centers) in the Pacific Northwest and New Mexico. Over the years, Kristi discovered her primary passion was diabetes education & management. She thus decided to make it her work focus.
