Overall

Do not attend this School. I did, when I went to the recruiting office at Midway, Co I told them I had no previous experience driving a Tractor-trailer or Straight Truck and was concerned about whether or not they could teach me how well enough to get my Class A CDL. They assured me that they were the best School in the Industry and that most of their Students complete the course and pass the CDL Test.

Once they had my money I immediately began to hear a different story, several Instructors told our class "We don't care if you get your CDL, we already have our CDL." Their Instructors are of the lowest quality imaginable. They will literally harass and harangue Students while they are in the act of learning how to drive a Semi Truck with a 42 foot trailer in traffic. From the time I started the class until the day I tested for my CDL 14 Students had tested for their CDL while I was there, of those 14 only 5 passed their CDL Test, that's a success rate of just a little better than 10%! They have a success rate of 10% and they claim to be the best school in the Industry! With only 10% of their Students passing the CDL Test one would think they would conduct a review of their Instructors and the Program. No such luck. The unspoken policy at US Truck Driving School seems to be "There's no such thing as a bad Instructor, only bad Students." When I was speaking to Leonard, the Manager of the Instructors about my concerns he told me "The course used to be 8 weeks long but they shortened it to 3 weeks, I don't know why they did that, I don't agree with it but it isn't up to me." The equipment is in terrible shape, we were learning how to do a pre-trip inspection and none of the equipment met the criteria they were teaching us was safe for road travel. Another student who started 2 weeks after I did was a former State Patrol Officer and he told me that "The Student Driver can get a ticket for driving unsafe equipment if they get pulled over and a DOT inspection is conducted on these vehicles." I told him "They told us that the Company would get the ticket, not the Student Driver." He responded "They're wrong." This same Student used to conduct DOT inspections and told me that none of the Trucks or Trailers used for road driving at US Truck Driving School would pass a DOT Inspection and that they would all be taken out of commission due to being unsafe for driving. Keep in mind that this is a 6,000.00 course! There were only three students in my class, it was a small class. the course is 3 weeks long 12 days of which is behind the wheel. But you are sharing that wheel with two other drivers…. that means that you end up with about 4 days of driving experience.
