Virtua Voorhees Hospital

I am giving it a three star rating simply because I enjoyed the space in the room and the food lol. I gave birth here at Virtua in Voorhees back in 2007. The room was nice and spacious, clean and organized. Plus the food was really good.

Cons: The service was TERRIBLE! I had gotten attitudes from all the nurses I saw on top of one not knowing basic rules about IV's. The OB's I worked with for this Hospital sucked as well. They didn't bother to take the time and explain things to me and induced me rather than explaining to me that I could go home and wait longer. So over all...I would NOT recommend this hospital to go to when delivering a baby.

They don't even deserve 1 star.

I am 28 wks pregnant and have yet to see a certified Dr. (GYN) at this office. Every time that I go in for an appointment they always send in a student doctor and it's always a different student. I was told at my last visit (26 wks) to return yesterday for my 28 wk glucose screening and also to be sure to fast for 2 hours before hand. So, I made my appointment for 9:45 am in order to avoid the feeling of starvation. I arrived at the women's center at 9:30 am with my sick 17 month old daughter only to find out that I needed to meet with my nurse case manager for 28 wk counseling. Then after that I needed to see yet another student doctor. During each visit I said politely, I thought I was here for my glucose screening. Each time I was told you'll get a script for that when you check out. Now I'm checking out, it's 11:15 and I'm trying to schedule my 30 wk visit with an actual Doctor and for the evening so I don't have to bring my child along for another 2 hour ordeal in this office. The lady proceeds to tell me that they don't have evening hours and I will meet with whoever they have on staff that day. Are you kidding me? A facility that is this big, with a ton of doctors that practice there and they don't have evening hours and they can't give me an appointment with a certified Dr? I feel really bad for those expecting mother's that work day shift jobs and whoever else has to deal with this crap. Okay, so I say now just give me whatever you have open in 2 wks with whoever I guess. Now for the script for my glucose test. She tells me "by the way ma'am you have to fast for 2 hours before having this test done. I said yes, I know this and thank you very much for that information but, that is what I thought I came here for today in the first place. She now says "oh we don't do blood work here in the office, you have to go downstairs to the lab on the 2nd floor". Great!!! And, thanks! So I proceed downstairs to the lab with my sick child that is now throwing a fit only to find out that I have to drink some sugary liquid and fast for another hour. Are you kidding me? I spent in total 3 hours at that hospital today and left with just pure frustration and disappointment as to how they manage things and care for their patients. I spent the entire afternoon on the phone trying to find a facility that will accept my insurance and transfer me at 28 wks. I absolutely refuse to see these people anymore. For what? So when I go into labor I guess I am going to have deliver my child "whoever is on staff that day"? Student doctors? Yeah, I really don't think so.

Do yourself a favor, stay away from this facility and save yourself the aggravation. Find a place that will give you what I'm sure every pregnant woman needs, the comfort of knowing you have a DOCTOR that takes the time to get to know and be familiar with you and who cares about your unborn, and your being to the fullest. Don't settle for just being notes in a little note pad or just another face that walks thru their door.

Wow.....I never thought I'd give this location a 1 Star rating.
I checked into the emergency room at 7:20pm. It is now after midnight a I am still waiting to be seen. The staff attitudes towards EVERYTHING is very nonchalant. There's items across the floor left from previous patients and seating is limited.
My pain has been persistent and everyone in here is complaining. Do better Virtua. After a couple hours waiting, that becomes RIDICULOUS!!!!

leaving this hospital immediately, have been in the emergency room for over an hour waiting to be seen for extreme side pain and a high fever, a urine sample was taken and hour and fifteen minutes after our arrival and we were told we will not beem seen for a while.... this is not the virtua i remember absolute incompetence for health care providers, do yourself a favor and never come here if you have a real emergency.

One week after I had a c-section at Virtua I started feeling so cold, in 75 degree weather I was bundled up. My fever spiked up to 104, I couldn't lift my arms and could barely walk. At the time I didn't have a breast pump, I breast fed my baby and I physically did not have the strength to feed him. My poor husband didn't know what to do so he rushed me to the ER. He put me in a wheelchair and wheeled me through the door, barely, one hand on the wheelchair one hand holding the baby. He obviously needed help maneuvering the chair as he had his hands full, I was slouched over in the chair in a sleep like state, the baby was crying, and every single person working the in the ER looked at us like we just barged into a church in the middle of a wedding ceremony, they persisted to stare, one woman finishing her cheese fries, then finally my husband burst into tears and yelled "can somebody help?!" It was so upsetting to see the lack of concern from emergency room personnel.

Beware of Virtueless Hospital! I would give them 0 stars if YP would let me. I went to the ER for something that turned out to be minor. My insurance company (another winner, Blue Cross Blue Shield) was trying to get out of paying the bill. After a relatively short time, Virtua sent my account to collections. I had explained the situation with the insurance company, which is a pretty common situation. They then went after my credit. I got my primary doc to write BCBS, supporting that there was no pre-existing condition; my doc also faxed the letter to Virtua. I followed up to make sure the fax was received. I thought things were okay, at least for the moment. But I recently went to a coffee shop to buy a snack and a coffee, and my bank card was declined. Virtua managed to get access to my bank account, without my consent, and took everything I had. I received no warning. They literally got into my account somehow--I never provided information for it--and stole all my money. I am now broke and not sure how I will get by. I would not recommend Virtua aka Virtueless Hospital to anyone. Aside from them robbing me blind, their service is horrible. The doctor himself was pleasant enough, but the rest of the staff, most especially the intake staff, had a poor bedside manner. They were unfriendly, sluggish, and dismissive when I came in for what I thought might be a heart attack (luckily, it wasn't at all, and it turned out to be a minor problem). If you need to go to a hospital, whether it is an emergency or not, do not go to Virtua. You may regret it. The other reviewer's story about how their child was handled is just plain frightening.

I never thought I'd be writing a bad review for the hospital I had my child at. For people who don't know , this location is the new hospital off of route 73. So anyways ;my 10 month old daughter recently was very sick. I started her at day care 3 weeks ago so Im sure it's something she picked up from another child. A week and a half after starting,she returned home one day with a very high fever so I took her to virtua children's emergency dept.& they sent me home telling me to just give her Tylenol or Advil. The next day, she had discharge from her eyes ,so I took her to her pediatrician & they gave me meds for conjunctivitis . She was still have fevers by the end of that week,but not as high. All of a sudden, her fevers spike up and she starts to rub her ears so I figured it was an ear infection (which the pediatrician confirmed ),so she was taking the antibiotic for that. Even after that.she still had fevers. I took her back to her pedi 3 days after and they told me to take her to ER cuz they heard fluid in her lungs. I took her back to Virtua and they diagnosed her with pneumonia and gave her stronger antibiotics. STILL, almost 5 days after starting her pneumonia antibiotic she was very feverish and seemed like she was in a lot of pain,so I took her back to the Virtua children's Er, I told them how long she's had a fever and all they do is give my daughter another x-ray (to detect the pneumonia) & tell me it was a part of having pneumonia. My infant was so miserable,having burning up fevers everyday that antibiotics would not break through, and had this terrible ongoing cough. She even Had started to breath very fast. Even me not being a medical profressional, I knew it was something more to this. The very next day after Virtua sent me home, I took my child to CHOP's EMergency dept(children's hospital of philadelphia ) and they immediately knew what was wrong with my child .. After THOROUGHLY examining my child, they felt fullness in the right side of her face and she could have an abscess (collection of infection /pus) . So they did a cat scan and they hit the nail right on the head. She was admitted for something very serious called a retro pharyngeal abscess,that if went untreated could've cut her airway. The Drs told me that she was going to be admitted and either they would take care of this bad infection with IV antibiotics or through surgery. I was scared to death !! But at any rate,we spent 4 days in CHOP while they administered my daughter the antibiotics through the IV and it was making the abscess go down so I'm so thankful they didn't have to operate. How could Virtua overlook this as many times as I went there and voiced my concerns? I would like to say its maybe one doctor's mistake but each time I went, I was seen by a different dr. I am Highly upset with Virtua and will not be returning. Their Emergency department doctors need to be way more observant and thorough with examinations!
