Born and raised in Michigan she practiced veterinary medicine in New York and in North Carolina before joining her dad, Dr. Kevin Reabe, in Traverse City. She earned several awards during her schooling, graduated with high honors, and was awarded the Pfizer award for Anesthesia and Pain Management.
Skin Condition and Allergy Treatment
Having spent time vacationing in the Glen Arbor area since she was a young child, northwest Michigan seemed like a natural choice for her to establish her veterinary career. Dr. Jencka moved to Traverse City shortly after graduation from veterinary school because of her love of the area and her desire to live closer to family. She joined Bay Area Pet Hospital 2016. Dr. Jencka particularly enjoys the challenge of chronic skin conditions in addition to the wide array of illnesses and injuries encountered as an emergency veterinarian. Dr. Jencka was recognized as Traverse Magazine’s “Red Hot Best Veterinarian” in 2019.

Dedicated to practicing the highest quality medicine, Dr. Karen completed a year-long internship at Michigan Veterinary Specialists where she worked under the guidance of board-certified veterinary specialists. Through this rigorous training she gained additional experience in emergency and critical care, veterinary surgery, and small animal internal medicine.

After practicing outside Flint, MI in a mixed animal practice for a year he opened his own practice Veterinary House Call Services that has been serving the Genesee County Area for 35+ years. He traveled most weekends to the Grand Traverse area skiing-snowboarding in the winter and windsurfing in the summer. In 1989 Dr. Reabe bought what is now East Bay Animal Hospital and opened Makin Waves Surf Shop. As a competitive windsurfer he won the Mistral Nationals in both 1989 and 1990. He moved to Traverse City in 2004 and opened East Bay Animal Hospital.
