Dental Examination
X-rays
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) doesn’t have set guidelines on age for dental x-rays. The Guideline on Prescribing Dental Radiographs for Infants, Children, Adolescents, and Persons with Special Health Care Needs states that diagnostic studies should be based on each patient’s needs, not on age alone.

Teeth Cleaning
Also known, as a professional dental cleaning is the removal of plaque, stain and calculus from the patient’s teeth. A dental prophylaxis should be completed twice per year, and/or as advised by your dental provider.
Fluoride Treatment
This treatment is a particularly effective fluoride treatment for kids whose cavities cannot otherwise be treated at one time. We may also recommend Silver Diamine Fluoride for children with disabilities or those who are unable to sit for longer cavity treatments.
Dental Sealants
Pit and Fissure sealants are materials placed in the pits and fissures of the teeth and help reduce the risk of caries in predisposed pits and fissures. Dental sealants are important because studies show that 80-90% of cavities in permanent posterior teeth and 44% in primary posterior teeth occur in the pits and fissures. Sealants are most commonly placed after the eruption of the first and second permanent molars. The first permanent molar erupts at age six and the second permanent molars erupt at age 12.
Space Maintainers
Space Maintainers: A space maintainer is an appliance used space following the premature or early loss of primary teeth/tooth. There are several types of space maintainers. These included; band and loop, distal shoe, Nance and Lingual Holding Arch.

Fillings
If the cavity in your baby’s teeth is too large such that an amalgam filling will not be enough to seal it, the crown is recommended. Moreover, if your child is prone to too much of cavities, a stainless steel crown would provide you with a longer and better solution.

Anterior Esthetic Crowns - An anterior esthetic crown is a white crown used to restore a damaged anterior tooth. Anterior esthetic crowns are composed of resin composite or zirconium. These crowns restore your child’s natural smile without compromising esthetics.
Crowns
Composite Fillings (White fillings) – Composite fillings are primarily made up of resin. They are tooth-colored restorations and therefore give your teeth their natural color and look. Fillings are used to fill cavities in children’s teeth. These are however the small ones; the larger ones need other restorations like a stainless steel crown. In adults however, cavities are always resolved with fillings – the composite fillings that is.

Pulpotomy
A pulpotomy is performed to restore the infected baby (primary) teeth in kids. Most commonly, untreated tooth decay causes baby teeth to become infected (cavities). This occurs when the cavity destroys the outer layer of the tooth and then attacks the soft pulp inside your kid's teeth. Since this pulp is full of nerves, it frequently results in severe pain and discomfort. However, oral trauma can lead to teeth infection too. If your child slips and falls and cracks or breaks a tooth, harmful bacteria can enter the inside of the tooth and cause an infection. Therefore, it is always vital to go for professional emergency dental care if your kid faces an oral injury.
Root Canal Treatment
Primary teeth are important and it is best that these teeth be kept intact instead of being prematurely extracted. It is for this reason that root canal therapy for children is a potential option for saving a baby tooth that is affected by extensive decay.

Dentures
No. Although restorative dentistry includes important elements like bridges, dentures and implants, these are not applicable to children’s teeth for obvious reasons. Considering their age where they possess temporary teeth mostly, other procedures are futile and hence not recommended..
