Akwaaba African Hair Braiding

This hair shop is absolutely amazing. I got kinky twist today and the results are astonishing. I'm very pleased with the professionalism of the owner and staff. The sisters were very professional and honest. They were not trying to get a fees bucks but instead gave advise to what will suit your hair type best. My hair came out looking so beautiful.

Wow!!! It's all I can say. I decided to get my Micros put back in, but coming from Atlanta I am very choosey about who I allow to do my hair. So for a week I was researching online braid shops. I had made an appt. with someone else when I came across Akwaaba reviews. The reviews were so outstanding I couldn't believe them at first. I then started researching the shop for reviews everywhere and to my surprise I found a lot of them but NOT one of them was negative. I immediately cancelled my appt at the other shop and called Ms. Cynthia and told her I needed her to do my hair. She was very flexible and was able to get me in when I needed and even changed to come an hour earlier when I called her that day. Needless to say all the reviews were right on point. My hair is beautiful and I am continuously getting compliments EVERYWHERE I go. I have found my a new braid shop!!!! She is very humble, sweet and professional....Thanks again Ms. Cynthia!!!!

This was my first time getting Senegalese twists done. I showed Cynthia a picture of how I wanted my hair to look and she did not disappoint me. She did an amazing job!! She also has a great friendly personality which helped the time go by smoothly. I've been getting so many compliments left and right! If you need your hair braided in Tampa go to Cynthia! Words can not explain how Mrs. Cynthia has provided extraordinary customer service while at AKWAABA'S! I have never had to wait or long lines like other African hair braiding shops. At AKWAABA'S there is unlimited WI-FI, Netflix & drinks/snacks available while getting your hair braided/sew-ins, etc. Upon arriving and leaving, I feel refreshed knowing my hair will last a long time! JOB WE'LL DONE!!!

Sister Akos is a true professional. She is very friendly as well as being the best at what she does. Her store has free wi fi and is clean so wait time is not a hassle but as long as ive had appointments i never had to wait like some salons and she accepts walk in too. If u need ur hair done and done right Akwaaba is the place to go

Ms. Cynthia & her staff r AWESOME! I called on a thurday and got my hair done on saturday. They were on time and QUICK! I've never gotten my hair done in braids or twist where it didnt take all day. I came in esrly and was out by afternoon. Will ALWAYS go back to get my hair twist or braid. Very clean & professional! She even called a few days after to make sure I wss still happy with my twist. Cynthia was the only hair stylist to return my phone calls after I had tried another shop in Tampa when I first moved to the Tampa Bay Area. I drive from St Petersburg about every two months to get Senegalese twists. I always receive compliments on my hair. She returns my calls even when her voicemail is full. I've been to her three times & am never disappointed. I tried to give her & another stylist a tip my first time and they refused! Told me they wanted me to come back.

When there's another available stylist in the salon they both will work on my hair. She doesn't take breaks or waste time talking on the phone like previous stylists I've had.

Nice shop. Posters & curtains cover the window front so the public isn't looking in. She now has drinks & snacks in the salon for cheap.

I would recommend her services to anyone.

Cynthia did my hair. I called a week ahead foe an appt. She was available dir a late night appt at 6pm on a Friday. I got micros. They took 8 hrs but the atmosphere was peaceful. And she worked non stop. She stopped for me if I needed a quick break. EVERYONE loves my hair and I used synthetic hair. Its beautiful!

Quick and efffiecent hair braiding

I recently visited Akwaaba to get some Senegalese Twist done by Cynthia and she did a phenomenal job. This is only my second time getting this hair style done and from my first experience, I was kind of skeptical about getting them done again. The first time I got the done at a different shop and I paid the same price at Akwaaba that I did there and I could honestly say that I didn't get my money's worth. Cynthia put her heart into making sure my head was done PERFECTLY & I did not mind sitting at Akwaaba's all day to get my hair done. Cynthia to me straight up that money is hair to come by and she will make sure that I get my money's worth, and she kept her work. I tipped her extra as well because I let her chair looking like a Queen and I've received plenty of comments on my hair style and I recommended her to everyone who asked. Cynthia is on FIREE!!!!
