Dr. Vargo is a Doctor that I can trust! That means everything! He has helped me with a bad sprained ankle, metatarsalgia and surgery for an ingrown toenail. He draws pictures as he explains what he is going to do and is very thorough. He is very caring and u know he has your best interest at heart. I can’t say enough great things about him. Hammertoe is a deformity where one or both joints of the second, third, fourth or fifth toes begin to bend outside of their normal alignment. Pressure can begin to weigh heavy on the toes as you wear shoes which is where pain and other symptoms develop.
Heel Spurs
Heel spurs occur in at least 50% of people who have plantar fasciitis. Past treatments for heel spurs, a bony growth that begins on the front of your heel bone and points toward the arch of your foot, included surgery to remove the growth. Nowadays, surgery is rarely a treatment option and more plans for physical therapy, ice, and pain medications are used to treat heel spurs.

Ingrown toenails are a common condition where the corner of a toenail grows into the soft flesh surrounding the toe (usually the big toe). Ingrown toenails can be very uncomfortable, painful, and can easily lead to an infection in the toe. Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain. It is caused by the irritation and inflammation of the large band of tissue that connects your heel bone to your toes (plantar fascia). Some symptoms include stabbing pain that usually occurs in the mornings. As you walk around on the foot the pain normally decreases, but it can return after standing for long periods of time.

After graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1978, Dr. Vargo earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed a Podiatric Surgical Residency at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in association with Huron Road Hospital in 1985. Dr. Vargo is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.
