Anne M. Wallace, MD, is a board-certified general and plastic surgeon who specializes in all aspects of breast health, with a focus on breast cancer and breast reconstruction. She directs UC San Diego Healths https://health.ucsd.edu/specialties/cancer/programs/breast/Pages/default.aspx, which offers premier breast cancer detection, diagnosis, and personalized care. Dr. Wallaces other specialties include melanoma diagnosis and treatment, as well as all forms of cosmetic breast and body contouring surgery. Dr. Wallace is a professor in the Department of Surgery and is very involved in teaching medical students, residents, fellows and colleagues. Her research focus has been in the development of molecular targeted imaging agents used for the detection of breast cancer and melanoma. She has also led the breast health center team in building a large scale clinical trials program, including novel neoadjuvant therapies and risk management. Dr. Wallace is sought for her presentations on breast health, prevention, surgical intervention and reconstruction by local and national organizations. She also contributes professionally to many cancer leadership services and UC San Diego committees.She completed a fellowship in microvascular cancer reconstruction at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, a residency in plastic surgery at UC San Diego School of Medicine, and a residency in general surgery at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington D.C. She earned her medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Wallace is board-certified in general surgery and plastic surgery, and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).She has received multiple honors during her career, including the Breast Cancer Clinician of the Year by the Susan G. Komen Foundation, a Tribute to Women & Industry Awards (TWIN) honoree by YWCA of San Diego County, as well as several teaching awards at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. Wallace has also been named a top doctor in the categories of surgery and plastic surgery in San Diego Magazines Physicians of Exceptional Excellence" annual survey performed in collaboration with the San Diego County Medical Society.
