Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral Surgery
When not practicing Oral Surgery, Dr. Long enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, as well as working on his ranch in South Texas.
Jaw Surgery
As an Oral Surgery specialist, Dr. Jeffrey Wert has extensive experience with dental implants, grafting (bone and soft tissue), removal of wisdom teeth and non-restorative teeth, corrective jaw surgery, several options for sedation, as well as diagnosis and treatment of TMJ (jaw joint disorders), oral pathology, and trauma to the face and jaws.
Maxillofacial Surgery
Dr. Long was accepted into the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base in 1999. He received his Medical Doctorate from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2003. Dr. Long completed a one-year medical internship in General Surgery in 2004 at Wilford Hall Medical Center, and then received his Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2005.

Bone Grafting
Dr. Wert’s practice is full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery with an emphasis in dental implants and bone grafting. He is especially interested in using today's emerging digital technology to enhance the planning and treatment of dental implants. He has been in private practice in San Antonio since 1987.

General Dentistry
Colonel Long received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Biology at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He then joined the United States Air Force in 1995 after obtaining his Dental Degree from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. Dr. Long’s initial assignment in the Air Force was a one-year General Dentistry Residency at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska.
