Six weeks ago, I brought my little Fiona, a Yorkie mix, to the Cottonwood Animal Hospital. I had taken her out for her walk in the morning like every morning, and somehow her leash went around her back leg while she was running and tore her ACL in her knee. She immediately was carrying it off the ground and I knew it was serious. I took her immediately to Cottonwood, as I found there were NO OTHER vets willing to examine her! We drove from Pleasant Grove to SLC and we had a wait of about 30 minutes, I guess. No appointment, they made room in their schedule to see us and I was so grateful, I didn't care how long I had to wait. No one else made time or room for us! We were seen by Dr. Bagley who immediately examined Fiona and suspected the ACL tear, but they confirmed with an X-ray. They gave me the estimate and yes, it is expensive. But you become a pet owner, knowing that there are costs involved in properly caring for your pets. I used to have a horse and let me tell you, that is expensive because the vet has to come to you and it's a huge creature they have to wrangle! I don't have much money but because I love my dog so much, I found a way to get her the care she needed. Dr. Bagley showed me a model of the knee and told me of the two different treatments that could be done, how each one might result and the lasting outcome of each. I decided to proceed with the complete repair of her ACL. The surgery was performed by Dr. Bagley and when I picked up my little girl that night, she was in happy spirits and she had a very small, neatly sutured incision about 3/4 of an inch in length. I very dutifully followed every post-op instruction, keeping her mostly in her crate and quiet, and carrying her out to do her business. Two week follow-up was great results. Dr. Bagley was enthusiastic and pleased with how she was doing. I could tell that he really cared about her and it wasn't just a task to accomplish. He really liked her and cared. We just had our six week review and she passed with flying colors, no restrictions. I want to thank Dr. Bagley for explaining the different procedures and leaving it totally up to me to make the decision, I want to thank him for his expertise, skill, knowledge and experience in performing this surgery for Fiona. There are very few orthopedic surgeons for our pets in Utah, and the ones we have are working constantly, as you can imagine. Thank you again for the professionalism and also to the staff who kindly took my calls checking on Fiona.

BEWARE!!!! YOU ARE BEING TAPED!!! ESPECIALLY at the worst time in a pet owner's life. Our dog 13 year old Golden Retriever, Jesse had aspiration pneumonia. We took him to the Cottonwood Animal Hospital. Ultimately we decided to let him go to a better place. The paperwork about handling his remains was given to us without sufficient time to think about options or read through the form. Our dog was brought in an the experience was very emotional as long time dog owners might guess. We left questioning our decision. A little over a week later, my husband called to see when we would be able to pick up his ashes and was told that his ashes were being mailed to us. We didn't agree to that. After a heated conversation, a woman told my husband that "they" would review the TAPE. The tape of us sobbing, watching our beloved pet pass. I'm still furious. I know the song and dance of "the tape is for your protection and ours..." That just does not fly. Chris from All Paws was more helpful and compassionate than this Animal Hospital. Think five times before going there.

Overall
Great Quality Pet Care

This clinic is head and shoulders above other clinics of the same size in the Cottonwood Heights/Sandy area. They have good hours of operation and their staff is very friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and competent. They do not try to sugar coat or gloss over your pet's problems. I give them my highest recommendation.
