Dental Examination
Visiting our office every six months gives you the chance to talk with us your dentist about your child’s oral health. Regular exams are offered by appointment only, so please contact our practice today to schedule your child’s next dental exam and teeth cleaning.
X-rays
Because we care about your child’s bodily health and well-being, we believe that reducing the amount of radiation exposure is extremely important. Although the amount of radiation used in dental X-rays is very small, the effect is cumulative, so all radiation counts. Digital X-rays can reduce your child’s exposure to radiation by up to 80 percent!

Teeth Cleaning
Your child’s exam will take about 45 minutes. Each regular exam includes a detailed teeth cleaning, during which we clean, polish, and rinse the teeth to remove any tartar or plaque that may have built up on the tooth surface.
Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride is effective in preventing plaque from building up and hardening on the tooth’s surface, which can in turn cause cavities or tooth decay. A fluoride treatment in our office takes just a few minutes. After the treatment, your child may be asked not to rinse, eat, or drink for at least 30 minutes in order to allow the teeth to absorb the fluoride. Depending on your child’s oral health or the doctor’s recommendation, a fluoride treatment may be required every three, six or 12 months.
Dental Sealants
Ask your dentist about dental sealants, a protective plastic coating that can be applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth where decay often starts.
Space Maintainers
If an abscess occurs in one of your child’s primary or baby teeth, it will most likely need to be extracted. Depending on the location of the extraction, a space maintainer may be necessary until the permanent tooth emerges to prevent the surrounding teeth from drifting into the open space.

Fillings
Resin Composite
Children’s teeth bonding is dental filling used to restore and reshape teeth. The process improves both mouth function and aesthetic appearance. The bonding material is either a composite resin or ceramic that hardens under a specialized light and fuses with the treated tooth.
Veneers
Traditional dental restoratives, or fillings, may include gold, porcelain, or composite. Newer dental fillings include ceramic and plastic compounds that mimic the appearance of natural teeth. These compounds, often called composite resins, are typically used on the front teeth where a natural appearance is important. There are two different kinds of fillings: direct and indirect. Direct fillings are fillings placed directly into a prepared cavity in a single visit. Indirect fillings include inlays or veneers fabricated with ceramics or composites and generally require two or more visits.
Crowns

Bridges
Dental Bonding
Dental bonding is a comfortable, non-invasive procedure. To complete the restoration or cosmetic improvement, your Doctor will roughen the surface a bit and coat the tooth lightly with conditioning liquid. The tooth-colored resin will be applied next, to shaded to match your child’s natural teeth closely. The material will be shaped to perfection then hardened.

Root Canal Treatment
Sedation can range from the use of laughing gas to calm a patient to general anesthetics used to put patients to sleep. Patients with dental phobia, low pain tolerance, major dental treatment, physical handicaps or strong gag reflexes may require sedation. Procedures like fillings, crowns, bridges, root canals, extractions, cosmetic procedures and periodontal treatments often require sedation.

Oral Surgery
Tooth Extractions
The oral surgeon offers two levels of sedation for your wisdom teeth extraction: nitrous oxide and full IV sedation. The level of sedation will be based on the recommendation of the treating provider. After the sedation has taken effect, the surgeon will extract the teeth and place sutures in the gum. These stitches will dissolve so there is no need for a follow-up appointment to remove them. After the procedure, the patient will remain in the office for a short time to recover from the anesthesia.

Braces
Whether your child wears braces or not, protecting his or her smile while playing sports is essential. Mouthguards help protect the teeth and gums from injury. If your child participates in any kind of full-contact sport, the American Dental Association recommends that he or she wear a mouthguard. Choosing the right mouthguard is essential. There are three basic types of mouthguards: a pre-made mouthguard, a “boil-and-bite” fitted mouthguard, and a custom-made mouthguard from the dentist. When you choose a mouthguard, be sure to pick one that is tear-resistant, comfortable and well-fitted for your mouth, easy to keep clean, and does not prevent your child from breathing properly. Your dentist can show your child how to wear a mouthguard properly and how to choose the right mouthguard to protect his or her smile.
