RMLD is a public power utility. It serves more than 25,000 customers in its four-town service area and employs a staff of over 80 employees. It operates programs, such as light rebate, weatherization assistance, infrared and energy conservation. Its weatherization assistance program assists low-income households in reducing their heating bills by providing air sealing, sidewall insulation, weatherstripping and minor repairs. Located in Reading, Mass., RMLD publishes a bimonthly newsletter that features events, programs and news of the electrical industry. It also features safety and energy conservation tips, appliance rebate information, rates and billing updates, and legislative and community news. Additionally, RMLD serves the community through school safety projects, outreach to senior groups, community support and active memberships in local civic groups.
