Pest Identification
Rodent control is something that most homeowners and business owners don’t usually concern themselves with, but it is important to take action when it comes to wildlife control and instill a proper control plan when signs of an infestation of commercial pests become evident. In addition to the Raleigh pest’s potential for carrying disease, it is important for us to have proper pest identification skills when we see the damage. Mice and rats are among the urban wildlife of all Raleigh wildlife that is known to cause damage in and around buildings that can lead to extremely costly damage repairs, and in order to have the pests trapped and removed, we must be able to identify them and use the proper wildlife control methods.
Molecular studies have shown that flying squirrels are monophyletic and originated some 18–20 million years ago. Most are nocturnal and omnivorous, eating fruit, seeds, buds, flowers, insects, gastropods, spiders, fungi, bird’s eggs and tree sap. The young are born in a nest and are at first naked and helpless. They are cared for by their mother and by five weeks are able to practice gliding skills so that by ten weeks they are ready to leave the nest. Get Rid Of Flying Squirrels In The Attic >>

Cockroaches
Silverfish
Bees
Bats have a varied diet. Some feed on nectar, fish, small mammals while others prefer blood. Overall, bats are insectivorous. This means that they feed on the insects which crawl or fly around at night. Examples of these are moths, mosquitoes and bees. Seeing as these insects can quickly become pests themselves, bats actually assist in controlling their numbers. As such, a moderate number of bats around your home is ideal.
Wasps
Ticks
Squirrels can transmit some diseases to human beings. Their droppings can contain Salmonella bacteria. This parasite causes fever, diarrhea and abdominal cramping. They carry ticks on their coats which can spread Lyme Disease. Its symptoms are stiffness, pain in the nerves and neural inflammation. Squirrels can also transmit Tularemia. This condition causes swollen lymph nodes and ulcers in humans. Leptospirosis is another disease transmitted by squirrels. Its symptoms are rashes, vomiting, jaundice and fever. If a squirrel feels cornered or threatened, it can bite or scratch and transmit rabies to humans.
Crickets
These graceful, mile-tempered snakes are common in many forested areas around North Carolina. As the name suggests, they are green in color and can either be smooth or rough textured. Their color allows them to camouflage themselves in green grasses, trees, and backyards in residential areas. These snakes mainly feed on insects which include crickets, grasshoppers, caterpillars, and spiders.
Earwigs
Mosquitoes
Flies
Opossums are considered nuisance wild animals due to their opportunistic natures because they find entry points through crawl spaces, sheds and other voids in residential and commercial structures and find the locations to be very enticing to nest. The animal droppings and urine will litter the area in which they live, much like bat droppings, coming into contact with possum waste can make you incredibly sick. Since they do not have long lifespans in the wild, they will often perish in their domain which will create numerous wildlife issues also. A dead possum can create a very foul odor which will attract flies and other parasites without proper odor control methods. Flea problems can also be an issue after removal of the deceased carcass. When removing animals, whether they are alive or dead, we aim to be serving by using the most efficient techniques of trapping, removal, exclusion, and sanitation to ensure your pests are safely trapped and removed by using humane wild animal relocation methods.

Mites
While they are an effective method of insect control, much of the interaction between skunks and humans is negative in nature. These pests can transmit a variety of diseases to domesticated animals and humans. Examples of these are distemper, rabies and tularemia. In addition to that, skunks can carry parasites which spread diseases such as mites, ticks, fleas and tapeworms.
Slugs
These snakes have a slated-grey or black slender body. Their neck ring and belly colors vary from a creamy yellow to a reddish orange. They are mostly found under flat rocks, loose barks of dead trees and old logs. They mainly feed on lizards, salamanders, worms, slugs and newborn snakes. Similar to the garter snake, ringneck snakes will release a foul-smelling musk when captured or provoked
Snails
The raccoons’ preferable habitat is the woodland ecosystem. They prefer a habitat close to a source of water such as rivers, streams, and marshes. This is because their favorite prey is aquatic invertebrates such as crayfish, young turtles, snails, and clams. They are also herbivores that feed on a large variety of plant-based foods such as vegetables, corn, nuts, and fruits such as watermelon. Raccoons have also adapted to live in urban areas, suburbs, and farms. They have adapted well to the life in the city by learning the skill of scavenging food from garbage cans, feeding on crop fields, and gardens. Wild raccoons live in raccoons nests in rock crevices, tree cavities and in tree cavities. They can also live in dens abandoned by other animals such as the muskrat lodges. In suburban areas, the mammals are said to live in buildings that are not occupied
The beginning of May through the end of July marks the time frame when female bats are raising their young – called pups. Commission biologists urge homeowners to avoid closing up holes or installing eviction devices during this time, as young bats, like other mammals, depend on their mother for survival during the first few weeks of life.
Raccoons
Raccoons are nocturnal animals that are highly intelligent. They adapt quickly to their surrounding environment and can create multitudes of problems. They are opportunistic feeders, and will feed on almost anything edible. They typically have one litter a year in early spring of one to about six kits or cubs. The young will open their eyes in about four to six weeks and are mobile at eight to ten weeks of age. Young raccoons make chirping sounds that resemble birds. The female raccoon will typically make a home in attics, chimneys and crawlspaces where the young are raised.
Snakes
The coastal plains and mountainous regions in North Carolina make it a perfect habitat for snakes. There are currently more than 37 species of snakes in the state, most of which are non-venomous. Here are some of the most common snakes of North Carolina.
Wildlife
Since 1990, Triangle Wildlife Removal & Pest Control Inc. has offered pest management services and humane animal control to Raleigh and surrounding areas. We are hardworking and dedicated to humane wildlife removal and pest control problems. We use the most advanced techniques available to handle residential and commercial pest matters safely, effectively and humanely.
Opossums
Opossums are omnivores and eat a wide variety of food. They will inhabit burrows, under decks, crawlspaces, outbuildings and attics. They are more often found in crawl spaces and lower areas of buildings. They get a bad name because of their looks but in actuality, they are very docile creatures. Rarely do they carry rabies. They hiss and open their mouths in a defensive tactic when confronted but will quickly roll over and play “possum†if the intruder persists. When living under a house, they will create a mess. They will have a large latrine, in which the droppings and urine have a horrible smell. The ductwork and insulation tends to get destroyed and the vapor barriers will need to be replaced. They do not have a long lifespan in the wild and therefore many dead ones are removed also from buildings and crawl spaces.
Muskrats
Coyotes
Southern flying squirrels live in deciduous or mixed forests in North America. They are also common in residential areas that are close to heavily wooded areas. They also travel great distances. More specifically, the average range for this species is 2.45 hectares. Males can have a range that is as large as 9.0 hectares. In contrast, northern flying squirrels prefer coniferous trees. Their average home range stands at 3 to 7 hectares in North Carolina and 5 to 13 hectares in Pennsylvania. Common predators of flying squirrels are the domestic cat, owls, weasels, martens, coyotes, and hawks. These creatures respond to such predators by foraging for food at night. They also have a high level of agility that helps them escape their predators. Unfortunately, human encroachment on forested areas is interfering with their rates of survival.
Management, include bat, dead animals, bird control, fox, snake, and odor dispersal that dead animals or skunks can cause. When customers ask us about relocating squirrels, we will thoroughly explain how we set squirrel traps to catch the animals. Other times with bat expulsion, many people will ask why bat droppings can be so dangerous. We explain that bat guano, known as bat droppings, can carry several sorts of diseases that can be contracted by humans and pets that are very dangerous to our health. So we ensure that we
Skunks live in all parts of the continental United States. They are easily recognizable due to their black and white stripes and the distinct odor which they produce in self defense. Capable of diffusing over great distances, their musk is normally produced by specialized anal scent glands. Not only does their protective spray of odor fluid irritate multiple senses at the same time, it can even cause blindness in humans. Skunks are omnivorous and nocturnal in nature. Their diet is made up of amphibians, small insects, garbage and small rodents.
Mice
House and deer mice, in particular, can present a major challenge for residences, as they’re able to gain access through cracks no larger than a quarter-inch in size. When you’re in need of removing mice and rats or having an effective wildlife trapping plan in
Rats
The scientific name for roof rats is Rattus rattus. They usually nest on walls and attics of houses when they are in close proximity to humans. In the wild, roof rats are live in trees, on fences, in parks and industrial areas. They are also known as tree rats or citrus rats because they are fond of fruits. Roof rats have a slender body, larger ears, long tail, large eyes, and a more pointed nose than Norway rat. A roof rat weighs five to eight ounce and is twelve to eighteen inches long. Roof rats’ tails grow longer than their bodies and they use them to walk across electrical wires. They are expert climbers and are agiler than the Norway rats.
Squirrels
Squirrels will have anywhere from one to about eight young. The average is around four. The drays will open their eyes in about four to six weeks and be mobile by 8 weeks. There is nothing more precious than a baby squirrel. They feed on acorns, grasses, leaves and hard mast. They are frequent visitors of bird feeders and are a favorite to the delight or dismay of one’s view. They are normally diurnal in which they are more active in early morning and late afternoons. They are normally found in attics in which they enter through breaches in the roofline, gable vents, attic fans, ridge vents and water tables. They will also chew through the fascia, soffits and aluminum gutters, if persistent enough. Once inside the attic, they will gnaw rafters, joists, wiring and pipe insulation in order to keep the teeth worn down. Get Rid Of Squirrels In The Attic >>
