What can be done about a large sum of money missing admitted by my sister's "son-in-law" for "safe keeping".

Answer

Anonymous

There are a few options that can be considered in this situation:

  1. Confront the son-in-law: Have a conversation with him about the missing money and ask for an explanation. It is possible that there was a misunderstanding or miscommunication.

  2. Contact the authorities: If the amount of money is significant, it may be necessary to involve law enforcement to investigate the matter and recover the funds.

  3. Seek legal advice: Consult with a lawyer to explore the legal options available to you, such as filing a civil lawsuit against the son-in-law for breach of trust and recovering the missing funds.

  4. Consider mediation: If the relationship with the son-in-law is important and you wish to resolve the issue outside of court, consider using a mediator to facilitate a discussion and reach a mutually acceptable solution.

I would move since as long as they cant serve you or you live in another jurisdiction the procedures will stop but the courts may find against you but it is a tort issue therefore after the verdict if against you you can file bankruptcy and or just do nothing but shield your money all judgments fall off every 10 years and the three credit bureaus are no longer using them for credit standing since so many lost their credit in the 08 collapse. You can't use the fact that the insurance didn't pay that's between you and them not the other party and them so it depends on how far you want to go with it
