The atmosphere is great & food but I feel compelled to write a review that addresses their gluten free menu. They have many gluten free dishes & when asked questions said they adhered to standard gf practices, however, my daughter is a celiac & has been throwing up all night. I do not recommend this restaurant if are gf for health reasons.

I recently had the distinct pleasure of going to India Restaurant while traveling in Providence, RI. It was a total delight. The atmosphere is lovely, the music is both ethnically appropriate and pleasant for dinner romance and conversation and the charming staff delivered excellent service. But the real treat was the food. It was not traditional Indian fair, but a sophisticated fusion of Indian and Asian with a Latin flair. Exquisite in presentation, it was prepared by a chef who obviously has a wonderful sense of creativity in the menu choices and ingredients as well as the ability to bring subtle and bold flavors together with just the right balance. We tried several salads. Grilled Cantaloupe, Spinach and Kale Cucumber salads were all unusual and delicious. The Peppered Duck in Tamarind Curry was to die for and the Biryanies were scrumptious. And don't pass on dessert. Have you ever had Lemoncello Cake? There wasn't a single missed step. Everything was spectacular.

I am Indian, My name is Ashish Pandey, I am Basically from Mumbai ,india and I regularly have Indian food outside. I've been to other Indian restaurants in the area and had a decent experience ,I wanted the best Indian food for my wedding because my Wife's parents are from India and we picked in this Indian Restaurant in down town because we have tried many Indian restaurants and we found this restaurant to be the best amongst the lot. The on site tandoor with exceptional decoration and live sitar and tabla music and buffet setup we loved it all. When we went to the restaurant to settle the bill we were asked to share our experience with others and I thought of writting on the net. I can not thank anymore when I told the owners to give special attantion because I want my mother in law to be impressed and she was really impressed and I am glad we picked this indian restaurant to cater the wedding. The customer service was great.

Best Indian Restaurant in RI

This is more than a restaurant...it is an experience to delight all of the senses! Of course your taste buds will be well taken care of, but your eyes will also be treated to big-screen Bollywood movies, bellydancers, and traditional henna artwork. Eat outdoors on the patio during the spring/summer and enjoy the beautiful water fountain and scenic decor. Our favorite by far is the India's Biryani - a must-try! Gigantic margaritas are also a huge hit with us.

Loved it

Delicious food (especially lamb mango curry and naan basket), and the best mango lassi I've ever had. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, excellent ambiance.

I lived in Manhattan for several years and dined at over fifty indian restaurants. India is by far the best experience I have had at an indian restaurant. The food is creative, healthy and fresh. The staff is welcoming, friendly and helpful. The place is by far the most beautiful indian restaurant I have ever seen. Wonderful Al Fresco dinning as well. I strongly recommend.

Great food - lots of original healthy options in addition to more standard Indian fare. Good selection of types of naan, although I like just plain best! The atomsphere here is the real reason to go... it's been their focus lately to improve it, and it really shows. Eat on the outdoor patio in the spring/summer, or enjoy the candle-lit, archway-filled cozy-yet-modern dining room.
