My favorite Central Coast restaurant. My wife and I are celebrating our 20th anniversary there tonight. In 1994 we enjoyed our first date at Giuseppe.

My family and I decided to give them a try.
We arrived right when they opened, and we were quickly seated. The atmosphere is ok, but not family oriented.
FIRST thing we notice was that there were FLIES everywhere. Throughout the entire dinner we were constantly pestered by flies. We had to keep swatted them away from our food.
Prices are high. Our server quickly came and took our order, but the server did not offer any drinks or even a beverage menu(Other than a wine list). We had to ask the bus boy to take our drink order, and we did not see the server again until our food arrived.
They do not have a kids menu, and they charge you 4.50 to split a plate for the kids. We ordered the lasagna, chicken pistachio, spaghetti, and basil cream chicken.
The lasagna was runny, burnt, bland, and fell apart. The chicken pistachio crust was so hard my wife had to hold the chicken down with her hand in order to cut it. The chicken portion was tender. The basil cream chicken came out with a green thick paste covering it. It was a bit on the spicy side and had an off flavor. The spaghetti turned out pretty good.
After our food was delivered the server checked up on us once, and we never saw our server again. We had to ask the bus boy for ticket. Finally when we received our ticket the server saw we had not eaten any of the basil cream chicken and had that removed from our ticket. That was the worst 67.00 I ever spent. This place was a total disappointment and we will not be going back.
After we left we went to Mcdonalds for dinner.

- Giuseppe’s Cucina Italiana was founded in 1988 by Giuseppe DiFronzo as a senior project upon graduation from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Joe, “Giuseppe”, is a son of Italian immigrants who along with the majority of their family emigrated from Bari, Puglia. Puglia is the heel of the boot region of Italy, otherwise known as the California of Italy. Joe grew up in Southern California where he learned his craft working for his four uncles who all owned Italian delicatessens and bakeries. After fishing in Alaska on a crab boat upon graduation from Cal Poly, Joe returned to Pismo Beach and started his first 8-table restaurant in the old Landmark Hotel in Pismo. Three years later he moved to the historic Plessas Tavern, a Pismo landmark since 1921. This institution fed the likes of Eleanor Roosevelt, Bob Hope, Clark Gable, and many dignitaries and stars traveling between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Locals were thrilled to see the eatery reopen and thrive for the last 24 years! Today Giuseppe’s boasts an Italian deli and bakery across the street at 800 Price Street as well. Giuseppe also opened a sister restaurant in 2005 in downtown San Luis Obispo named “Palazzo Giuseppe.” Giuseppe spends his pastime cultivating his family farm from which he produces his 15 year old “DiFronzo Vineyards” wines, featured in his eateries. In addition to wine, he grows, cooks, and serves his organic heirloom fruits, vegetables, and herbs with pride and confidence.Giuseppe’s Cucina Italiana was founded in 1988 by Giuseppe DiFronzo as a senior project upon graduation from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
