Founded in 1980, Amplifonix is a manufacturer of hybrid, bi-polar and gallium arsenide field effect transistor low to medium power amplifiers, PIN Diode and gallium arsenide field effect transistor switches and voltage controlled oscillators that operate in the frequency range of a few kilohertz to 3,000 megahertz. The company s original charter was to be a second source to amplifier manufacturers in the low frequency spectrum, commonly called the IF or RF sections of a system. Amplifonix accomplished this goal with more than 500 products in competition with Motorola, Watkins-Johnson, Avantek/AVNET, Q-Bit and M/A-COM-TYCO. Its product line includes more than 5,000 customer specified amplifiers, switches and voltage controlled oscillators, which are modifications of standards or new exclusive designs for customer applications. Amplifonix is located in Philadelphia.
