Sarah Keating's vision for the Phoenix Salon & Spa when it opened in March 2005 was to create A Salon with A Cause. Since its inception, the Phoenix has aspired to set itself apart from the typical Salon and Day Spa business model. The Staff of the Phoenix collectively believe that people look and feel their best, not only when they are taking care of themselves and attempting to minimize the stresses of daily life, but when they are doing something to effect constructive change in the community that surrounds them. According to Sarah, she feels invigorated, healthy, and energized most when she is working to influence someone else's life in a positive manner. It is an energy that can not come from anything else. Sarah is a Philadelphia native, attended the public schools, as well as the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated cum laude with an individualized major in environmental law. Upon her completion of law school at the George Washington University School of Law, she became a member of the Pennsylvania, New Jersey and District of Columbia Bars. She then went to work in the Government Regulation Section of the firm Morgan, Lewis and Bockius, in Washington, D.C. Following her private practice experience, she transitioned to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Region III ( EPA ), in Philadelphia, where she worked for 17 years. Initially, Sarah acted as a civil enforcement attorney representing the EPA's Hazardous Waste Division. She later moved to the Criminal Division, acting as a Senior Regional Criminal Enforcement Counsel, representing the Agency's criminal enforcement program. She was appointed as a Special Assistant United States Attorney by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and handled cases in that District as well as in West Virginia, Delaware, and the Western District of Pennsylvania. Sarah also spends a significant portion of her work day acting as the Principal Owner and Chief Executive Officer of KEM Partners, Inc ( formerly known as Keating Environmental Management, Inc ). KEM ( www.kempartners.com ) is a full-service environmental consulting and remediation firm, with offices headquartered in Exton, PA. The firm provides comprehensive environmental services including engineering, geology, hydrogeology, asbestos, indoor air quality, sustainability, permitting, health and safety, environmental compliance and risk management services to public and private sector clients. KEM is a certified Women Owned Business ( WBE ) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the State of New Jersey, the State of Delaware, the City of Philadelphia, and the Women's Business Enterprise National Council ( WBENC ). Sarah is a partner in the Center City Philadelphia WORTH Collection clothing line ( www.worthny.com ), working with Lori Tevis to bring high-end fashion to the Philadelphia marketplace. Sarah and Lori host trunk shows in the Penthouse of the Phoenix Condominiums four times a year, selling directly via private appointment to Philadelphia's professional women. Worth is an exclusive line of custom-designed, exquisitely made clothing that appeals to the professional woman with limited time to shop for quality wardrobe pieces.
