Philadelphia Taxicab

This is story that must be broadcast widely and the Driver P0877, must be complimented thoroughly. This afternoon I had used the taxi from Penn station to North 12th st, and had left my cell phone in the taxi. Just as I realized, my wife started calling the main number with the details and within the next 20 minutes the kind driver came back the spot where he dropped me and gave me the iphone. I'll preface it with the following.



-the ride from Central Philly to Bridgesburg. It was fine.

-the driver. It was fine. He was very nice and chatty.

-if you go on their website, there is a lost and found link where you can fill out a form. Their response team - SO quick to answer you. Impressive.



What WASN'T fine.



After I arrived at my destination, I realized minutes after the taxi drove off that my camera had dropped out of my pocket. Yes, yes, that was my fault - but if you've never lost anything in your lifetime, I'd love to meet you. (It didn't help that 11/1 Saturday was a day of Hail Mary downpours- Google it!, so I had all my rain crap on me!)



Luckily, I had the company's number because I had asked the driver for his business card. I called the dispatcher right away and he REFUSED to dispatch the driver to come back to me with my camera!!!! (To be fair, I didn't have the medallion number, but COME ON, how many 6666 drivers are in Bridesburg at 12:30p on a Saturday??? He told me to call the PPA instead - which I did - but their offices are closed on weekends! NOT helpful!



(Might I add, I called the dispatcher 3x times that morning. I got the guy twice. A girl once. The girl was at least sympathetic. The guy - he did give me the PPA number, but showed no compassion or concern and was even barking in the background when I was talking to the girl.)



And, as a result, I've had to:



-stalk the PPA for the last six days (nice and patient folks, by the way. THEY get 5 stars!)



-file a police report (why should the cops be out crime fighting when they can waste time by filing reports like mine about lost property!!!)



ALL of which could have been alleviated with a mere dispatch to whichever cab had just dropped me off. (BTW, it WAS possible as I asked the PPA about it!!!! BUSTED!!!!!!!!!!!). I even offered to pay the fare for the driver to come back to me!



(The camera I can replace, it's the SIM card with all the sentimental and irreplaceable photos that I'll never see again that upsets me.)



UNREAL. And, as an out-of-towner, it left a really bad impression. (Oh, and when karma pays you a visit later and YOU lose something just as important - it WILL happen at some point in your LIFETIME - that unsympathetic sound of laughter will be me.)

Talked to Karen about service from Wills Eye to NJ, she is a real doll. Called today for transport, cab arrived 8 mins. after dispatch, clean and one of the nicest drivers ever. My 76 yr. old mother felt safe and secure! Thank you so much....

I asked for a taxi to pick me and my girlfriend up from 15th and Norris and take us to the Temple Train Station, just so we could take our luggages. What is normally a five minutes drive ended up being more than 30 minutes.



At first the driver arrived earlier than asked for, which we thought was alright. However, he wouldn't take my folding bike. We understood and decided that I would ride my bike to the station and my girlfriend would take the taxi with the luggages, also because she has a bad knee. I got there in five minutes or less. After 15 minutes the taxi was not even near.



My girlfriend told the driver the address again, and he told her that he didn't know where that was. He kept driving around Montgomery Avenue, even after my girlfriend told him it was 10th and Burks. He kept repeating he didn't know the streets.



He arrived late, making us miss the train and thus or bus to NYC. And he charged over $19 for a ride that usually cost us $7 or less!!!



To top it, we called customer service to report him and the manager, instead of helping us, full of hostility kept repeating that it was our fault and that the driver did know where the station was. She said that he would have taken us there if we had told him, but that we were not precise and thus he was taking us to the main station. No matter that another person, a train guard, was there with us when the taxi arrived and heard him say that it wasn't his fault, that he simply didn't know and couldn't do anything about it, the manager kept repeating that the driver knew and it was all our fault. She ended up hanging up on us as when we called again to speak to someone else, she said she was on charge and hung up again.



We have never gotten such a bad service. Well, we definitely had bad experiences with taxi drivers, but even the manager to be so unhelpful? No. Awful service. Would NOT recommend this company to anyone.

Awesome service!!! BY far the most professional service out there with outstanding knowledge of all this city has to offer. The drivers are also very friendly and had no problem accepting my debit card for payment,unlike the other companies out there who force me to go to an ATM. I had a great experience from start to finish and have made them my only call for a ride

Wow,what a refreshing feeling to have top quality service from of all things a cab company. Right off from the start I was shocked to hear a friendly voice on the phone ready to take my order with speed and accuracy, only to have the cleanest cab I ever saw pull up as the cab was pulling up my phone rang and turns out it was the dispatcher telling me my car had arrived...I was floored by the fact with everyone I had spoken with had manners. Off I go into a cab and I was again refreshed by finding out that the driver knew the city so well he actually saved me about six bucks on my usual ride with my now old taxi company ...Philadelphia Taxi Company will always get great referrals by me
