Horrid company all around! See the Orlando news special investigating them for unethical, forceful, and poor business practices. The attorney generals office is investigating them due to hundreds of complaints. Check it out on the BBB website. Rent from Enterprise, Hertz, Avis, Budget but NOT Signature. They charged us 300 dollars for a license plate that fell off their car that was not properly secured by them! Crazy!

NO PLEASE DONT USE SIGNATURE ECONOMY PLEASE.

Overall Rating is 0....The vehicles are not well maintained. I was given 3 cars during my one week rental contract. This company offered a partial refund which was never given. No one answers the phone or calls unsatisfied customers back.

I booked a reservation from the website. On the website it advertised a low daily rate. It confirmed that I had a reservation so I didn't think any more about it. When I arrived at the parking lot, the van was about to leave. I ran in, ran my card, grabbed the ticket/receipt and ran to the van. I was shocked that they wanted me and my husband to load the van because there were no more seats left. Somehow we fit in but no one could wear seat belts because the seats were crammed past capacity.

Getting in behind us was a very angry fellow. He had been grossly overcharged and had been arguing with the manager. I looked at my own receipt. I also had been charged more than 3 times the website rate. Then as the van pulled out, the angry fellow asked if anyone else had been overcharged. Half the people in the van raised their hand. It was an awkward ride to the airport. The driver blasted loud pop music and everyone was cramped like sardines.

I emailed the business asking for a refund once I got to my destination. I told them of my experience and asked for a refund of the amount over the advertised rate I had been charged. They said no. I said that I was angry about the poor customer service and lack of response and would be leaving poor reviews. THEY THREATENED TO SUE ME! Oh, they also send a post stay email that says they will give you a free day stay for good reviews so that tells you something about how honest they are.

I booked my self service parking on spothero.com. When I arrived, I was told if I wanted to get on the shuttle to the airport I would have to pay twice the price for valet parking. When I arrived back from our trip, I called and requested pickup. I was told to wait at a specific spot on the ground transport level.

After almost an hour, the van pulls up several spots away and several groups that had been waiting less than 10 minutes (And were obviously told to wait at a different spot) filled the shuttle before we could walk over to it. We were then informed that we could either ride in the back with the luggage or wait an hour again for them to make the round trip to and back from the lot.

So after my family and I make the 15 minute ride on top of everyone's luggage, we get to the office. I am told that I have to pay the balance of the bill for the valet parking, and then they would not even bring the car around. I was given my key and told my car was where I left it (I left it at the office door where a valet driver took it). I had to go walking through the lot to find my own car and drive it up to pick up my family and my luggage.

The moral of the story is, NEVER use this company for anything.

This is for Economy Rent a Car AKA Signature Car Rental (yes, at 7640 Narcoossee)

Couldn't give a low enough review! Same as everyone else below. Quoted $120 originally, and got boosted to $248 when I hit the counter. They told me ONLY PAPER PRINT OUT to prove insurance. Later I found out that they would have taken my Geico Phone app. The man behind the counter did not tell me that.

Lies, more lies, and a rip off is all I got from them!!

For a FULL DETAILED description of my dealings with them, read this link:

http://www.geek-rant.com/rants/travel/rent-a-car-ripoff.html

I highly advise you find someone else to deal with.

Signature car rental is under investigation by the Florida Attorney General due to complaints, including adding extra charges to the price that the renter booked. Specifically, they forced me to pay $9/day for "loss of use" coverage. This violates their own written policy of allowing the renter to decline this coverage and take his/her chance on paying out of his/her pocket.
I booked my car as an Economy rental on Orbitz but Economy doesn't rent cars at Orlando airport. It's a deceptive, if not outright fraudulent practice.

Horrible experience. I had the Worst experience so far. I was served by agent Milkaliz and she keep forcing us to buy their complete insurance coverage ($180 a week). We had to call their competitor Hertz to confirm that it wasn't necessary. We ended spending TWO hours calling my insurer to re-draft our insurance papers to their exact liking. To top it off, they charge us $60 for the delaying the reservation and along with additional hidden fees (facility and tire fees ...about $20).

I would never again use their service at EconomyrRentaCar -dot- com

Never again!
At a pick up it was a total mess, a HUGE line of customers, some being late for their plains. They charged me a fortune for the insurance, even though I tired to decline it. The whole price was three times higher than at my reservation. Because of a long line of customers, the rep was unable to wait for two minutes while I was retrieving my proof of insurance. When I eventually was able to retrieve it, he told me that the contract has been already closed, that he is unable to change it now. He told me to email to the Customer Support and ensured me that the charge for the insurance will be refunded. A week later the customer support wrote that they're unable to give a refund.
Very bad experience.

BEWARE!

You will be forced to pay for their insurance even though you have coverage on your credit card and/or personal insurance. The car ended up costing over three times the price I thought I was going to pay.
After my trip I inquired with other car rental agencies to see if this was some sort of Florida law, and I was told that I could absolutely refuse insurance if I had my own.
Economy car rental is misleading and dishonest. All you have to do is read the reviews!!!

It is amazing that in spite of so many reviews calling out loudly the same dirty tactics this company is using, it is still not only in business but is getting featured on top by Kayak!! One wonders if there are some back-end payments to help perpetuate these blatantly dirty business. Like several other travelers, I was shocked to find their bait-and-switch tactic. After waiting for 30 mins for a pickup, I arrived at the lot at about 9:30pm with several bags and family and was in position to go back to airport and book with another company. Hence in spite of knowing the fraud they were playing, I had to just pay. Reservation was booked using the credit card. In spite of me telling that my card and insurance company covers rental, they asked that they needed me to pay for extra insurance (which was more than double the daily rate on rental!!!!) unless I produced a paper copy of the insurance coverage!! Showing them electronic proof or having my insurance company confirm over the phone was NOT ACCEPTABLE!! I have never seen that in the US some one can be playing this blatant fraud.

DO NOT RENT from this company. Staff demeanor is as if from a drug cartel or crime syndicate. We did not have any damage on the car. I wonder what other rip-off surprises this company would have produced had we had some incident!!!

Very untrustworthy and unfriendly business.

Absolutely worst customer experience of my life. Here are the list of failures of this company:

1. You have to call for a van to pick you up from the airport. I called and was on hold for 30 minutes. I finally saw the van, flagged it down and we went.

2. Got to the rental place. Waited 40 minutes for service. It took them that long to process TWO customers - imagine if the place had actually been busy.

3. Was told I HAD to take out their insurance. When I said, what if I want to decline. The employee named Ivan Rodriguez said, well, you can take the van back to the airport and try another company.

4. I had booked a full size car. Was given a Nissan Sentra, which is actually a compact. I was too tired and frustrated to complain. But, was still charged for a full size. Will try to get it sorted out today.

5. As we were leaving, I told Ivan that he really shouldn't talk to customers the way he did, telling me to take the van back to the airport. He said - well you were the one who didn't want insurance. And then he walked off.

6. When I returned the car - I asked for the manager. Was informed there was no manager on site! It shows! I then asked for the manager's contact information. I was given his first name and e-mail. I asked for his full name, she said, she couldn't give it out! What kind of business is this?!?!? Does his business card just have his first name on it?

Also found out the company is being investigated by the Florida Attorney General and has been exposed by a local news station.

This company is the worst run business I have ever encountered.

Coles Notes: I found out that this business was reviewed by the local news for these same tactics 6 MONTHS AGO!!! http://www.wftv.com/news/news/action-9-investigates-car-rental-chain-using-high-/nmtT3/

My invoice from the online booking was around $60 but first they tried to overcharge me by a whole day and then after half an hour of arguing (tired and battered) I realized they'd charged me $200, even after the lady said she'd "take care of it!" By that time I'd left the rental office already.

She definitely didn't "take care" of the hidden insurance fee that was DEFINITELY NOT IN THE ORIGINAL ONLINE INVOICE.

You have to sign the agreement without being given the chance to review it. You sign on a little electronic pad that scans your signature and prints it onto their invoice along with whatever they've decided to charge you, even if they verbally say they won't. I'm not sure it's legal to make someone sign something without given them the chance to look at the charges!

When I emailed them about this, they basically acted like they did on here and Yelp -- victim-blaming and saying that since you "agreed" to it on paper, there's nothing you can do about it. Basically wilfully ignoring the fact that the agreement isn't legal at all.

A single star is one star too many for these people. Like numerous other reviewers, I had a poor experience at this business. When I asked about insurance when I picked the car up, I declined. Unlike most of the reviews, the agent simply said "okay" instead of insisting I had to purchase something that I didn't need. However when I returned the car, I found that insurance, along with a variety of other fees, had been added to the invoice. The total was more than double the original Priceline quote which I had assumed they would honor. When I asked the agent about these fees, she said the account had been closed and nothing could be done. When I asked the manager, he said that this was what all of the rental car agencies in FL did.

I'm a big supporter of independent local businesses, however I will not deal with a non-Top-4 car rental company again. These people evidently do not care about reviews on websites like this, given that they have a constant new pool of unsuspecting tourists to keep their business going. I encourage everyone who has been similarly misled to file a consumer complaint with the FL Attorney General's office.

This is the cheapest car rental on the market for a simple reason. THEY STEEL MONEY FROM YOU!!!!!
I paid online and refused their insurance. When I came to their facility to pick up the car I refused their insurance again. They had me sign on signature pad (without being able to see the contract) that I agree to pay $200 deposit. Didn't give me any paper contract only said they will mail it to me once I return the car. Few weeks later I got charge on my credit card for $420. They said it was for purchasing their insurance which I refused twice. Please be aware. This never happened to me before anywhere else.

Awful service, extremely pushy to sell car insurance when I did not wanted / needed it. By far my worst rental car experience after traveling for over 30 years.

Arriving at their off airport location from Orlando's Int'l Airport we are asked to provide our full insurance policy in order to refuse their coverage. We were initially quoted a very affordable price to lure us in only to find out it was going to be considerably more. After being shuttled to an inconvenient distance and waiting on long lines, we witnessed 3 other families with issues who also left unsatisfied. We all had to go back to the airport to find another company who wasn't in the business of ripping folks off. It is apparent they do this all the time with their standard response of 'you should have read the small print'. We travel ALOT and never have once had to show proof of insurance because we use Mastercard who provides this coverage. The car company we ended up using said this was illegal practice! AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!
